Kobe Bryant Scores 68 Points In Charity Game … In 15 Minutes

Kobe Bryant is fresh off leading the US Olympics basketball team to a gold medal, but he’s decided not to take the rest of his summer kicking back his feet. Bryant put on a shooting clinic at a charity exhibition game in China, scoring 68 points in just 15 minutes of playing time.

Bryant sat out of the first half of the game, ESPN.com reported, but, after fans pleaded with him to enter the game and help his team climb out of a big halftime hole, he decided to come in for the second half.

“I wanted to play it cool but what the heck, the place was packed with fans who’d sang an early happy birthday to me and really wanted to watch me go to work,” Bryant said in a post on his Facebook page.

The game wasn’t exactly the world’s best that Kobe Bryant saw at the Olympics. His teammates and competitors were pop stars and celebrities from China, who, even Bryant admitted, didn’t have much game. So he was pretty much on his own, shooting and driving to the basket at will.

“They are not basketball players by any stretch of the imagination,” Bryant wrote. “I was just having fun with all of them and loved hearing the crowd enjoy the show we put on.”

Kobe Bryant’s involvement in the Sprint China charity game came as part of his promotional tour of China, where he is participating a series of basketball clinics and charity exhibition games.

The bit of good news comes at an important time for Kobe Bryant. Even though his veteran leadership helped the American team coalesce and make a run for the gold, his marriage has been getting more headlines than his basketball skills. His wife Vanessa Bryant made a comment that she wouldn’t marry someone who can’t win rings, and then fought off rumors that she got plastic surgery to keep Kobe happy.
