‘Destiny’: Xur’s Exotic Goods For May 6, SUROS Regime Returns

Another Friday has arrived in Destiny, which brings Xur, Agent of the Nine, back to town. The mysterious vendor has set up shop in the Reef this weekend for PlayStation and Xbox players to check out wares such as SUROS Regime and Heart of the Praxic Fire.

This week’s hiding spot for Xur is in the Reef social area. You’ll want to turn right from the spawn point, head down the stairs past the Bounty vendor, and then go in the first door to the right of the bottom of the stairs. The Agent of the Nine is tucked away in a corner on the right. Bungie finally fixed the door issue in Xur’s cubby hole by removing the door.

SUROS Regime

The SUROS Regime Auto Rifle was once the king of the Crucible until various weapon balance patches took it out. The recent 2.2 update gave the weapon a bit of a boost, along with other Auto Rifles.

The “SUROS Legacy” perk gives the weapon extra damage dealing for the bottom half of the magazine with a chance to return health on each kill. Meanwhile, the Year Two version of the Auto Rifle gives a choice between “Focused Fire” to make the weapon fire slower, but do more damage while aimed and “Spinning Up” to make it shoot faster the longer it is fired.

Crest of Alpha Lupi

If you are a Titan and have been playing Destiny since The Taken King launched, you’ve probably already had several of these drop. If not, you are looking at the best team-focused Exotic that can be used effectively by all three Titan sub-classes. The “Keeper of the Pack” intrinsic perk gives extra Orbs of Light when using a Super ability and allows you to revive teammates lightning quick.

The side bonuses give a choice between extra Auto Rifle ammo and Shotgun ammo. It also comes with optional perks for increased armor when playing as the Striker class or increased Arc damage recovery.

The max 64 Intellect/63 Discipline is an excellent roll and fits all three Titan sub-classes perfectly.

Young Ahamkara’s Spine

Gunslingers get the Hunter Exotic from Xur’s inventory this week. The Year Two version of Young Ahamkara’s Spine grants an additional Tripmine Grenade as its innate perk in addition to extending grenade duration by 30 seconds.

Destiny players will also have the option between the “Fastball” perk for increased grenade throw distance and “Momentum Transfer” for bonus grenade energy on melee hits. Plus, there’s the choice of faster reloads for Auto Rifles or Fusion Rifles.

An extra Tripmine Grenade in PVP is invaluable, which makes this a must pick up for Destiny Gunslingers who don’t have the Year Two version of this Exotic piece, despite the low 43 Discipline/41 Strength split roll.

Heart of the Praxic Fire

Heart of the Praxic Fire is to Sunsinger Warlocks what Obsidian Mind is to Voidwalker Warlocks. Its “Praise the Sun” perk decreases all cooldowns while the Radiance Super is active. This turns “Sunbros” into grenade-chucking and orb-generating machines. It also comes with perks to carry more Scout Rifle or Sniper Rifle ammo. It also has the option for better Arc Burn Defense or increased Solar Armor as a Sunsinger.

The 109 Intellect pure stat roll for this chest piece is near perfect.
