NBA rumors are swirling around LeBron James. Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue has been calling him out when he makes mistakes. According to ESPN, the two of them have formed a much closer bond because of that. Things were a lot different when David Blatt was the head coach of the Cavaliers. Blatt and James did not have much of a connection, as the former was reluctant to hold the latter accountable. This goes against the notion that James is difficult to coach.
LeBron James has quite the reputation when it comes to his relationship with coaches. Some feel that he is one of the more difficult guys in the NBA to control. The media tried to paint that picture when he was with Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra. All that chatter stopped whenever the franchise started winning championships. It started again when it appeared that James was blocking out David Blatt upon returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Tyronn Lue was reportedly hand chosen by LeBron James to become the new Cleveland Cavaliers head coach. Some even believe that the Akron native was pushing for that to happen even before David Blatt was fired. It was said that James wanted to be coached by someone that has played in the NBA. Lue wasn’t an All Star, but he was well-respected as a valuable role player that had helped the Los Angeles Lakers win two championships.
The bond with Tyronn Lue is so strong that LeBron James has decided to actively bring attention to his head coach and the coaching staff. After a game against the Atlanta Hawks, James made sure to point out some of the things that Lue and his staff did to help the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Hawks. James stated that Lue wisely decided to key the defense on Kyle Korver while allowing Dennis Shroder to dominate the ball on offense. That limited the ball movement that the Hawks are known for on offense.
The Cleveland Cavaliers took a big gamble when they replaced David Blatt with Tyronn Lue. However, team owner Dan Gilbert wants nothing less than an NBA Championship. He wants to reward a city that has never had one, and he’s willing to do anything possible to make that happen.
