Will Josh Duggar’s Past Prevent Jessa Duggar And Ben Seewald From Adopting ‘A House Full Of Kids?’ [Video]

Will Josh Duggar’s checkered past kill Jessa (Duggar) Seewald’s dreams of adopting “a house full of kids?” Jessa and Ben Seewald have made no secrets that they’ve wanted to adopt children since before they even married, but sources are saying that the Josh Duggar molestation scandals might stop the Seewald family’s adoption dream in its tracks.

According to the Hollywood Gossip, because the Duggar family admitted that Josh molested several young girls when he was a teenager, an adoption agency might not be willing to consider Jessa and Ben as potential adoptive parents. Although the Seewalds are clearly loving and attentive parents to little Spurgeon, an adoption agency might worry that their close affiliation with Josh could lead to abuse even though Duggar has not sexually assaulted anyone as an adult.

Naturally, with the Josh Duggar scandals being so widely publicized, any potential adoption agencies would know about that part of Jessa Seewald’s past. Although Jessa and Jill explained during a Fox News interview that they forgave Josh for the past, it’s something an adoption agency would take into consideration.

Last year, a police report from Josh Duggar’s past surfaced, revealing that Josh Duggar had molested several young girls, including his sisters, Jill and Jessa. Although the Duggar family was assured the record was sealed, it was leaked by an insider, resulting in the immediate cancellation of their long-running and popular show 19 Kids & Counting.

Just a few months later, Josh Duggar admitted that he cheated on his wife and had a pornography addiction after someone hacked Ashley Madison, a website that helps married men and women cheat on their spouses. The hack revealed that Josh had two accounts, and the Duggar family was stunned and hurt to learn that Josh and his troubles weren’t over.

Following his admission, Josh Duggar immediately went to rehab to wait out the firestorm while his family tried to come to grips with the fact that their brother and son had a double life they did not know about.

Although he has been back from rehab for months, Josh only just resurfaced publicly. In a photograph published by In Touch magazine, Josh was seen with his father, Jim Bob Duggar, playing mini-golf. Josh looked well, and his father seemed happy to be out in public with his son.

But Josh and his past aren’t stopping Jessa and Ben from trying to adopt. In past interviews, Jessa confessed that she’s watched friends go through the adoption process, recalling that she and Ben “have seen firsthand the amazing power of adoption.”

When asked about why she’s considering adoption when she just had her own child, Jessa strongly believes that since there are “so many kids out there who are longing for the love of a family,” she and Ben “feel strongly about opening our hearts and our home to welcome them in.”

Although Jessa admitted in the season finale of Jill & Jessa: Counting On that she “ just want[s] to take them all home,” she knows that adoption is “not really about any specific number, but cherishing and loving the ones God brings us – whether that be just one, or whether it be more, we’ll be grateful.” The Seewalds have not mentioned which adoption agencies they approached.

Jessa and Jill have also hinted that they both might be pregnant soon, although Jill admitted that her next child might have to be naturalized since she and her husband are currently performing mission work in Central America. If there’s a Season 2 of Jill & Jessa: Counting On, fans will likely learn about a new addition to the Dillard family since Jill confirmed that she and her husband “plan to expand our family of three.”
