‘The Flash’ Season 2 Spoilers: Cyborg To Be Introduced Before Season Finale?

The Flash Season 2, Episode 20 ended on a massive cliffhanger leaving the audience in suspense of whether or not Barry Allen/The Flash will feature again this season. The show also opened the possibility of introducing another character, Cyborg, based on a series of events that have happened since the start of The Flash Season 2.

According to the biographical stories behind the making Cyborg in the DC Comics, he is particularly very intelligent, but also leads a life not pleasing to his father by hanging out with the wrong people. So you could say that he is a little reckless up until he experiences a life-changing moment, which fairly convinces him to change his ways.

Interestingly, in the comics stories, Cyborg is a close friend of Batman, but he was nurtured by his father at S.T.A.R Labs. This means that despite his connections to Gotham City in the comics stories, he could still be introduced in The Flash at Central City. And there is a genuine candidate who could take that role.

While a lot of talk about The Flash spoilers has been directed towards unmasking the man from Earth 2, few have thought about other heroes and heroines who could join The Flash in future seasons. In episode 20 of the show’s second season, The Flash potentially disappeared and therefore will be ruled out as “dead” probably in the next episode.

This means that Central City will need new heroes to counter the threat of villainous metahumans for the foreseeable future. In the last episode, which went by the title “Rapture,” Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) and Jesse Quick (Violett Beane) were exposed to the particle accelerator explosion. It is highly expected that Jesse will gain speedster powers and become “Liberty Belle” or whichever name Cisco Ramon deems fit for her.

However, the fate of Wally West may be quite different from what everyone expects. In the traditional DC Comics, Wally West eventually becomes Barry Allen’s sidekick, Kid Flash. He has speedster powers and helps to take care of things at Central City after the disappearance of The Flash into the multiverse.

Nonetheless, when you look at Wally West’s storyline in the current The Flash TV show, he is brilliant especially in engineering and mechanics. He likes mechanical things like fast cars and was in the process of working on an innovative speed engine that could change the auto industry.

In addition, when you look at Wally’s past life, he has experienced the dark side (getting involved with the wrong peers and living a reckless life), just like Cyborg in his early years. Furthermore, in the comics, Cyborg is African American, as is the case of Wally West in The Flash.

However, the tricky part comes in when you consider the circumstances that led to the creation of the man/machine, in Cyborg. Most of his body parts are mutilated after being attacked by a monster following an explosion at S.T.A.R Labs, which leads to the fitting of various metallic prosthetics to replace the lost parts. So how could The CW get around this riddle?

First, we know that it is medically possible to lose the functions of various body parts without necessarily losing them physically. So it is possible that Wally West becomes Cyborg in the DC Comics series The Flash due to the effects of coming into contact with the particle accelerator explosion.

Generally, Cyborg does not pick up his powers from the start, but due to his brilliance and ties to S.T.A.R Labs, he continuously enhances his capabilities and functions with time. As such, it is possible that we may not see much of Cyborg before The Flash Season 2 finale, but we could get a sneak peek of Wally West becoming the man/machine that eventually develops to be one of the most gifted characters in the DC Extended Universe.

Now, it makes sense for The Flash/Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) to disappear at this time in the season because it’s only a couple of episodes before the series takes a break. He could possibly return at the beginning of Season 3 given that it will be several months later.

As for now, Jay Garrick/Zoom may endeavor to destroy Central City and this could help in ending the season on a fitting cliffhanger. And depending on the initial prognosis of Wally West and Jesse Quick’s conditions in the aftermath of exposing themselves to the particle accelerator explosion, we could know which superheroes they become in preparation for The Flash Season 3.
