WWE News: ‘WrestleMania 34’ Rumors Already Being Discussed
We’re only a month removed from WrestleMania 32 and speculation has already begun to swirl on certain aspects of WrestleMania 34. WWE made a commitment back in 2007 that WrestleMania would be bigger and better, occupying the biggest and best state-of-the-art facilities, with a concentration on indoor/outdoor arenas that could potentially break attendance records. They did just that back on April 3 with an announced crowd of over 100,000 inside AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas.
WrestleManias 20, 21 and 22 were held in famous arenas (Madison Square Garden, Staples Center, All-State Arena), but the capacities limited their potential gates. WrestleMania 23 emanated from Ford Field in Detroit, and ever since then, we’ve seen the big event at the Citrus Bowl, Reliant Stadium in Houston, University of Phoenix Stadium, the Georgia Dome, Sun Life Stadium in Miami, MetLife Stadium in NY/NJ, the Superdome, Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, and this year in Jerry’s World.
Back in March, the Inquisitr reported that WrestleMania will head back to Orlando next year for WrestleMania 33. The Citrus Bowl underwent a $207.7 million facelift that began in 2014, so the setting will look vastly different than it did when it hosted WrestleMania 24. The card will look quite different too, as 24 will be remembered for the Shawn Michaels/Ric Flair match that ended The Nature Boy’s career in addition to a triple threat match for the WWE Championship between John Cena, Randy Orton, and Triple H.
The WrestleMania 33 card has also already begun to be bandied about, or least the main events. Discussions have taken place in efforts to secure a Cena/Undertaker bout as well as a collision between The Rock and Brock Lesnar. The Big Show and Shaquille O’Neal have already planted seeds for a WrestleMania match as well that could go down next April. Add in the always-rumored triple threat between the original members of The Shield and 33 is already looking better than this year’s edition.

It may be premature to report on any rumored bouts for WrestleMania 34, but it appears the venue options have already been narrowed down. According to the Cageside Seats, the three cities in the running to host the 2018 event are Philadelphia, Minneapolis, and the Meadowlands (New Jersey). That last one is interesting in that MetLife hosted WrestleMania 29, where The Rock main-evented against John Cena for the second year in a row, this time for the WWE Championship. The only caveat that might prevent WWE from returning to the Meadowlands this soon is if SummerSlam once again hails from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. It’s not entirely a deal-breaker, but WWE does like to spread the wealth around.
Philadelphia and Minneapolis were both considered for either WrestleMania 32, 33, or both but were eventually eliminated from consideration. It appears they are back in the running for 2018. U.S. Bank Stadium is scheduled to open this year and will be the new home to the Minnesota Vikings as a fixed-roof stadium. It’s also the home of Brock Lesnar, which is certainly attractive to both WWE and the city, as it could potentially be his final WrestleMania. Philadelphia recently hosted a visit from the pope in what was a showcase of the city’s ability to entertain large crowds for major events.

Los Angeles hosted WrestleMania 21, but ever since the NFL relocated the Rams to the City of Angels, people have connected the dots for a return there as well. However, a new football stadium won’t be completed until at least 2019, so the absolute earliest that WrestleMania could take over L.A. would be WrestleMania 35.
Weather has always been a considerable factor when host cities come into play, especially those with outdoor stadiums. WWE was fortunate for WrestleMania 29 when New York/New Jersey temperatures hovered around 60 degrees most of that day. It was much cooler in the northeast this year, with precipitation threatening most of the afternoon and into the evening. But from the looks of it, WrestleMania 34 will either take place at MetLife Stadium, Lincoln Financial Field, or U.S. Bank Stadium.
