Liverpool must score at least two goals at home against Spanish side Villarreal in their UEFA Europa League semifinal second leg that will stream live on Thursday from Liverpool’s storied home of Anfield, as the Reds attempt to overcome a 0-1 first-leg deficit to advance to their first Europa League Final — where a win would put them back in the Champions League for only the second time since 2010.

A pair of goals at Anfield without conceding would put Liverpool into the May 18 Final in Basel, Switzerland. But due to the away goals rule, if Villarreal manage to put the ball past Liverpool keeper Simon Mignolet just once, the home side would need to find the back of the net three times in the second leg match to survive.

But Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says that his team is not daunted by the task in front of them Thursday.

“If we play our best then we can go to the final,” Klopp, in his first season at the Liverpool helm, said on Wednesday.

“We are ready. All we did since October was to be perfectly prepared for a game like this. We are not expecting a guarantee to go to the final. We are expecting everything and see what we get for it.”

Liverpool will receive a boost from German international midfielder Emre Can, who has been ruled fit after an April 14 ankle injury and is expected to be in the Liverpool starting XI on Thursday.

Klopp also said that he has yet to make a decision as to whether striker Daniel Sturridge will get the start in the do-or-die match against Villarreal.

Klopp said that he was always looking forward to bringing the semifinal fixture back to Anfield.

“My first thought after they scored, when I saw all of them celebrating, was: ‘Sorry to say but you have to come to Anfield.'” he said. “It’s only half time.”

But Villarreal Manager Marcelino said that his side is equally excited for the away game.

“We come here full of hope,” Marcelino said at his pre-match press conference. “We are going to give everything we have got and enjoy ourselves. We feel we have the capabilities to make it through to the final.”
