Prince 911: Elevator Death ‘Caught On Tape’ And Police Release Call Logs

The first warning came back in 2011. An unknown female informant called police to tell them that Prince’s drug habit was “uncontrollable” even then. The “unidentified woman” was so worried about Prince and the drugs he was taking that she called police after she went on tour with the star in Germany. Us reports that in the notes about the call, there’s a report that the woman was “concerned about Prince’s cocaine habits.”

The tip was never confirmed as true, but the woman claimed that Prince talked to her about his drug problem while they were in Germany. According to the notes, Prince told the informant that he couldn’t “control his habit.” The woman said that “she was advised to report it.” On the occasion of the 2011 call, the police said that they couldn’t take any action because the “info is a year old and she did not specify that Prince is in immediate danger.”

Now in the wake of questions about Prince’s cause of death, the Minneapolis police department have taken the step of releasing all the 911 call logs concerning Prince, including that early warning from several years ago. The Carver County Sheriff’s Office made the decision to release 911 call data starting with January 1, 2011, right up to the call on the day that Prince died, April 21, 2016. There were an astounding 46 calls asking for service from Prince’s estate during those years.

To be fair, most of the calls were not about health emergencies, or to do with Prince himself. A lot of the calls referred to “minor issues” with trespassers or parking. Some had to do with fans who were so determined to stick around long enough to catch a glimpse of their princely idol that they became dehydrated, and Prince’s security had to call for medical help.

The Business Standard reports that the call from the unknown woman was a whole different thing, and in many ways foreshadowed the final call on the day of Prince’s death. Along the way, there have been other people convinced that Prince was taking illegal drugs, and some people have even made accusations about Prince’s suppliers.

It turns out that while there were a lot of drugs in Prince’s life, they may not have been the kinds of drugs that the caller was concerned about. Hollywood Life reports that Prince was diagnosed with HIV in the 1990s, and because of his religious beliefs as a Jehovah’s Witness, he wouldn’t take medication to make himself better. He trusted in God to make him better.
