50 Cent’s Apology To Family Of Autistic Airport Worker Got Accepted

The family of an autistic airport worker who got mocked by 50 Cent issued a statement saying that they have accepted the rapper’s apology, BBC News reports.

Ken Kramer, the stepfather of airport worker Andrew Farrell, says in a statement that “we have chosen to accept” 50 Cent’s apology.

“We would first like to thank everyone for the amazing amount of support that they have shown over the past few days. It has been an emotional roller coaster that we are ready to put to rest,” the family statement said.

“As requested we have received a letter apologizing for 50 Cent’s behavior and we have chosen to accept it, along with a request that a donation be made to Autism Speaks,” the email explains. “Though a letter of apology will not undo what 50 has put our family through, we are choosing to forgive.”

“A great lesson can be learned from this heartbreaking situation. Regardless of the way that another person appears to you, it is never ok to publicly humiliate them via social media.

“We hope that this situation brings more awareness to what people with autism and other forms of social anxiety suffer through on a daily basis. Again, we thank the growing number of supporters who have shown both love and acceptance during this difficult time.”

Just recently, 50 put himself in hot water by recording an Instagram video in which he criticized the youth of today. To make his point, 50 Cent accosted a 19-year-old worker at the Cincinnati airport, accusing him of being high on drugs. The airport worker just recently graduated from high school and has only been working at the airport as a custodian for a month.

Warning: The following videos contains strong language.

The video starts with a closeup shot of 50 Cent directly talking to the camera.

“The new generation is crazy,” 50 told the camera. “They crazy.”

The rapper then approaches Farrell, who continues to push his custodial cart along the airport corridor, obviously threatened by the rapper.

“What’s your name?” 50 asked him pointedly.

In response, Farrell continues to look straight ahead while shaking his head. Looking uncomfortable, he proceeds to push his cart, obviously wanting to get away from the rapper as soon as possible. 50 Cent, however, continues to follow Farrell and keeps his camera focused on the airport worker.

“Look at him… What kinda s— you think he took before he got to work today? He high as a… [obscenity]… right here in the airport, pupil dilated everything, lookin’ like.”

“The new generation is … [obscenity] …crazy,” 50 Cent adds as the video goes off.

The video made the rounds online. Before long, a former acquaintance of Farrell left a comment on the Instagram post, berating the rapper for making fun of his friend.

“I went to school with him,” Farrell’s friend wrote. “He has extreme social difficulties, just to let you know. He has a hard enough time getting through life without jackasses like you making fun of him. I hope you feel good about yourself. You just lost a huge fan.”

It wasn’t long before Farrell’s parents got wind of the video. Disgusted by what they have seen, they went on TV to express their dismay at 50 Cent for his blatant disrespect of their son.

“It hurts to watch that, it’s painful,” Andrew’s stepfather, Ken Kramer, told WKRC. “You come up and you start talking to a kid you know nothing about. That’s not fair. That’s a slap in the face.”

“Why would you attack my kid like that?” Farrell’s mother, Amanda Kramer, said in her statement to Cincinatti.com. “It doesn’t say much about his character when he has to attack a kid he doesn’t even know.”

50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, deleted the video following heavy criticism.

Before long, 50 Cent issued an apology to Andrew Farrell and his family.

“While the incident at the airport resulted from an unfortunate misunderstanding, I am truly sorry for offending the young man,” 50 Cent said in his statement. “It was certainly not my intent to insult him or the disability community, which is a source of great strength in America. I have apologised personally to him and his family.”
