Blake Shelton And Gwen Stefani Set To Perform New Duet On ‘The Voice’

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are set to perform a duet number on NBC’s The Voice on Monday, May 9.

According to ET,Gwen and Blake will perform “Go Ahead and Break My Heart,” a song that will be included on Shelton’s forthcoming album, If I’m Honest. Gwen announced the song’s inclusion in the album last month via Twitter. The celeb couple co-wrote the song last fall.

“Look what I found lying round the house! #ispymyname #goaheadandbreakmyheart @blakeshelton #eeeekkkk! #crazy! Gx” Stefani tweeted.

Carson Daly announced Stefani and Shelton’s duet performance on The Voice on Tuesday night. Before long, Blake posted a tweet to confirm Carson’s announcement.

“SOOO…. I’m performing next week on @NBCTheVoice. I’m performing with @gwenstefani. We’re performing a song off my album we wrote together!” Blake tweeted.

In an interview with ET‘s Sophie Schillaci, Blake talked about his collaboration with Gwen, calling it “very personal.” He also revealed that Gwen had as much input as him.

“This song, I hesitate to brag on it too much but I really think it’s as good of a song as I’ve ever written in my life,” Shelton said, explaining that the track is “a full blown duet… It’s a 50/50 performance.”

“[The song] is very personal for us both because, you know, we obviously have this bond that is remarkable together,” Shelton said. “But the fact that we wrote a song together… I know that I don’t co-write that much because I’m very insecure about it I guess and [Gwen’s] kind of got her circle of people that she writes with. But for us to reach out to each other as writers, it may never happen again, who knows.”

If I’m Honest is perhaps Blake Shelton’s most personal and most honest album to date, what with all the things that happened to him in the last eight to ten months. It was only last year when he and Miranda Lambert called it quits following four years of marriage. And looking at the rest of the album’s tracklist, some of the songs may be about Miranda Lambert. Of course, many of them may be about Gwen Stefani as well.

Here is If I’m Honest‘s official tracklist:

1. “Straight Outta Cold Beer”
2. “She’s Got a Way With Words”
3. “Bet You Still Think of Me”
4. “Every Time I Hear That Song”
5. “Came Here to Forget”
6. “Every Goodbye”
7. “It Ain’t Easy”
8. “Guy With a Girl”
9. “Go Ahead and Break My Heart” featuring Gwen Stefani
10. “Friends” (from the Angry Birds movie)
11. “One Night Girl”
12. “DoingItToCountrySongs” featuring The Oak Ridge Boys
13. “Green”
14. “You Can’t Make This Up”
15. “Savior’s Shadow”

Blake is certainly following Gwen Stefani’s blueprint for success, as the “Don’t Speak” singer describes This Is What the Truth Feels Like as her most personal album. This Is What the Truth Feels Like debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, which earned the 46-year-old singer the first chart-topper of her career as a solo artist.

In her Time interview, Gwen admitted that she considers This Is What the Truth Feels Like a “life-saver record” for her. Inspired by her recent split with Gavin Rossdale, Stefani opened up creative channels that made her write songs in rapid succession.

“It wasn’t until I had to go through the worst tragedy that it really opened up a channel for me to be like, ‘God gave me a gift. I’m going to use it now. Because if I don’t, I’m going to die.'” Gwen admitted.
