Sarah Palin Appeals To ‘GOP And Independents And Smart Democrats’ To Unite Behind Donald Trump

Sarah Palin, the maverick former half-term governor of Alaska and failed GOP vice-presidential candidate, calls for all factions of the Republican Party, independents, as well as “smart Democrats” to put aside differences and unite behind the “revolutionary” Donald Trump, reports the Daily Caller.

In a video posted to her Facebook page early Wednesday morning, after Donald Trump effectively wrapped up the Republican nomination by thrashing Ted Cruz in Indiana, Sarah Palin told “GOP and independents and smart Democrats” that “it is time to come together, pull together.”

She thanks Indiana “for all your hard work.” Sarah laments the “precarious position” in which America has found itself after seven years of Barack Obama’s reign.

“To all of you who believed in making a real difference in our politics and in the way things have been done in the past that have put America in a pretty precarious position.”

The 52-year-old staunch Trump backer calls for all factions of the Republican Party to “put aside our differences” and unite behind the “revolutionary” Donald Trump.

“Our country will stand united; divided, we’re gonna fall… So now — after participating in some really healthy, kinda arduous competition — now more than ever it’s time to… put some differences aside, stand on principle… Thank you so much for supporting Trump and believing in this idea of being able to ‘make America great again.’ We are finally on the road to do so, but we do have to unite first.”

Sarah Palin also took the opportunity to reiterate her faith on Trump’s ability to “make America great again.”

“We’ve needed a revolution, and we’ve found our revolutionary… Thanks for all your hard work. Congratulations, Donald J. Trump — and here we go, on the road to make America great again.”

Palin’s statement came at a time when she is seen by many political observers as the tycoon-turned-contender’s possible vice presidential pick. She has already been stumping for Trump in Iowa, Wisconsin, and Florida.

Now as Donald Trump has fully turned his attention to the general election, he is openly speculating about the qualifications he would look for in a vice president. While speaking to ABC’s Good Morning America, Trump said he doesn’t have “a name in mind,” but there are “certain boxes that will need to be checked,” writes ABC News.

“I think probably I would like to go with somebody with great political experience.”

His vice presidential pick would definitely be a Republican and would “most likely” be an elected official, he said.

Newsweek lists Sarah as one of Trump’s possible running mates mostly because the “former Alaska governor is exactly the kind of pick that Trump would make: unexpected and baffling.” Although Palin doesn’t have much governing experience, beyond being the mayor of the small town of Wasilla and a brief stint as the governor of Alaska, she might be able to help Trump with the women vote.

Trump confirmed Wednesday that his campaign is beginning to put together a committee to weigh in on his pick for vice president. The committee will include former presidential rival and now-Trump supporter Ben Carson. Apart from Sarah, the campaign’s early favorites for vice president are now New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, and Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio.

As Newsweek predicts, another surprise choice for Trump may be none other than Ivanka Trump.

“The American presidency should not be inherited, but Donald Trump probably doesn’t care. Throughout the campaign, Ivanka remains one of his closest advisors and makes her father look reasonable by proximity. Of course she doesn’t have any governing experience either, but Trump values loyalty over résumé. And who’s more loyal than children?”
