Beyoncé’s Met Gala Dress Slammed By Tim Gunn: ‘Fashion Police Met Gala’ Co-Host Shares Shocking Comparison

While much of the Beyhive fawned over Beyoncé’s Met Gala dress, one fashion insider shared a different sentiment.

Tim Gunn, who co-hosted the Fashion Police Met Gala special, slammed Beyoncé and her dress, saying that the stunning Givenchy latex ensemble had “S&M written all over it.”

Gunn didn’t stop there. While commentating for the Fashion Police special, Gunn went on to say that Beyoncé is at the top of her game, and as a result, he expected more from her dress.

“Beyoncé is having her moment. She is the center of the pop culture universe right now, shouldn’t we have the highest expectations of her?”

Gunn was referencing the recent success of Beyoncé’s Lemonade album, which she released on HBO to much fanfare at the end of April. The album has been called a masterpiece by many, and Gunn seemed to think Beyoncé’s Met Gala dress should have reflected her current status as the queen of pop culture.

Gunn didn’t stop there, either. As he continued to express his shock and disappointment, Gunn went on to say he was “flabbergasted” by Queen Bey’s “misstep.” To hear more of Tim Gunn’s Met Gala fashion analysis, tune in to E! at 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

Gunn’s harsh opinion didn’t seem to be shared by all though. In fact, one report indicated that Beyoncé’s Met Gala dress was the most-searched dress after the Met Gala. According to a report citing Google Trends, searches for Beyoncé’s dress beat out searches for Kim Kardashian’s dress, Kendall Jenner’s Dress, Kylie Jenner’s dress, and Rihanna’s dress.

Still, that wasn’t enough for some fans, who thought that Tim Gunn’s analysis of Beyoncé’s dress was spot on.

Beyoncé has been the subject of many headlines and much speculation since she released her Lemonade album on April 24. The visual album, which debuted on HBO, tells the story of a woman who is dealing with her husband’s infidelity.

Since its release, rumors have speculated about whether or not the album is autobiographical. For years, rumors have circulated speculating that Beyoncé’s husband, Jay Z, may have cheated on her with a slew of women.

In fact, many of the recent headlines have focused on discovering who, exactly, Beyoncé is targeting with her album. During her song “Sorry,” Bey references “Becky with the good hair,” and fans and media outlets alike have provided thoughts as to who Becky might actually be. In recent days, it seems as if many have decided that Becky is actually a conglomeration of many women — which indicates that Jay Z may have cheated on Beyoncé with more than one woman. Perhaps it’s worth noting that Jay did not appear to join Bey for the 2016 Met Gala.

At this point, whether or not Jay actually did the deed doesn’t seem to matter, as Beyoncé is selling albums like crazy as her Lemonade album pulls in headline after headline, creating a firestorm of publicity for the pop culture icon.

And now, Beyoncé’s latex dress seems to be just one more thing creating publicity for the superstar — and if you ask Tim Gunn, it’s for all the wrong reasons.

What did you think of Beyoncé’s Met Gala dress? Do you agree with Tim Gunn, or do you think her dress was fabulous?
