Prince Death: Police Got Frantic 911 Call About Prince’s Alleged Cocaine Use In 2011

Prince’s sudden death has raised a lot of speculation on how he died, and now 911 logs from the Carver County Sheriff has revealed more indications that he may have had a cocaine problem.

Us Weekly reports that the sheriff’s office received a call from an unidentified female who claimed to be close to Prince and worried about his cocaine use.

According to Us Weekly, the log stated that the woman was “concerned about Prince’s cocaine habits. He advised her last year in Germany that he cannot control his habit and she was advised to report it.” Prince traveled to Germany in 2010 for the 20Ten tour.

The name of the woman was not recorded, and the phone number was obscured in the documents obtained by Us Weekly.

The Sheriff’s Department said that because the caller did not state that Prince was in immediate danger, they would not have had the authority to do anything about it. Therefore, the case was considered closed.

Prince, the legendary pop icon, died in an elevator at his Paisley Park home in Minnesota on April 21. As Us Weekly notes, an autopsy was conducted, but the cause of death has not been released to the press. The police are also currently investigating whether Prince died of a prescription drug overdose, as he was discovered with prescription painkillers on his person and in his home.

Minneapolis station, KSTP 5 Eyewitness News, reports that Prince was undergoing outpatient treatment for his chronic hip pain and that part of that treatment included a program that would help to wean him off the powerful painkillers he was taking. This did not necessarily mean that Prince was addicted to painkillers. KSTP 5 quoted sources who said that many patients seeking treatment for chronic pain also sign up for programs to help them prevent or deal with painkiller addiction.

As TMZ reported around the time of his death, a family member has claimed that Prince’s friends and doctors supplied the late musician with powerful drugs for his pain. TMZ also claimed that the singer had developed an addiction to Percocet before a hip surgery in 2010 and almost died from a drug overdose a week before his death.

According to TMZ, Prince went to a local pharmacy four times during the week he died to purchase the painkillers. The pharmacy was recently raided by police as part of the investigation into the “Purple Rain” singer’s death.

Claims that Prince had a substance abuse problem are also coming from people in the music industry. As Hollywood Life reports, recently the “Nothing Compares To You,” singer, Sinead O’Connor, wrote a scandalous Facebook note which implied that Arsenio Hall supplied Prince with hard drugs. A claim that Hall subsequently denied via a statement from his publicist.

“Two words for the DEA investigating where prince got his drugs over the decades… Arsenio Hall (AKA Prince’s and Eddie Murphy’s b****),” O’Connor wrote. “Anyone imagining Prince was not a long time hard drug user is living in cloud cuckoo land. Arsenio, I’ve reported you to the Carver County Sheriff’s office. Expect their call. They are aware you spiked me years ago at Eddie Murphy’s house. You bet get tidying your man cave.”

“The statement regarding Arsenio Hall is absolutely false, ridiculous and absurd,” Hall’s rep said in a reply to the claim. The statement was published in The New York Daily News.

Prince is the artist who wrote “Nothing Compares To You,” the song that made Sinead O’Connor famous in the 1990’s.
