Did Solange Knowles just slam Taylor Swift following a run-in at the Met Gala on May 2? Social media certainly seems to think so.
After taking a huge fashion risk on the Met Gala red carpet in a yellow ruffled ensemble, Solange took serious aim at an unnamed celebrity in a cryptic tweet that fans are speculating is Solange’s way of blasting Taylor Swift, who was the co-chair of the biggest night on the fashion calendar.
“Shout out to when you think you all ‘artsy and s***’, but your just rude and annoying lol” Solange told her more than 2 million followers in a tweet posted in the early hours of May 3, which got fans speculating that Solange was putting Taylor on blast.
While Solange didn’t elaborate on just who she was talking about, a slew of social media users took to Twitter to speculate that Knowles was slamming Swift, who attended the New York fashion event in a silver snakeskin Louis Vuitton mini-dress with black leather strips and bodice cut outs that was decidedly edgier than her usual style.
Twitter user @alialmoore took to the 140-character site to speculate that it was in fact Taylor in Solange’s line of social media fire, quoting Knowles’ tweet and writing “Now we know” alongside a photo of Solange and sister Beyoncé chatting with Taylor backstage at the prestigious fashion event.
A slew of other social media users then followed suit, alleging that Solange’s tweet was aimed squarely at the “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” singer and her polarizing Met Gala fashion choice.
“Solange LOVES kicking up some dust at the #MetGala,” @HotelFoxtrot noted on Twitter following to Solange’s social media message, adding, “PS she’s totally talking about Taylor Swift.”
“Solange ready to go round 2 on Taylor [if] she don’t stop talking,” @BeverlyMaxine wrote, alluding to Solange’s now infamous elevator attack on Jay Z that took place at the Met Gala in 2014, while @venusasaboy joked, “do u think beyoncé and solange get home and are like ‘omg did u see taylor swift lmao.’ “
Other Twitter users directly replied to Solange’s tweet to suggest that the model was putting Taylor on blast following their Met Gala run-in.
Solange Knowles is yet to confirm or deny whether or not she was actually referring to Taylor Swift with her pretty scathing Met Gala tweet, though Taylor did appear to be having a pretty great time at the New York fashion event with Solange’s sister, Beyoncé.
Taylor and Beyoncé posed for photos together in front of a wall of roses at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, where there appeared to be no signs of bad blood between the two pop stars.
Further proving that there’s no drama with Solange’s sister, Swift was even caught dancing, in a pretty erratic fashion, to Beyoncé’s 2003 hit “Crazy In Love” while inside the event in a video uploaded to social media by Swift fan account @TSwiftLA.
“Taylor dancing to Beyoncé’s ‘Crazy in Love’! #MetGala,” the fan account captioned the 10-second video taken from model Karlie Kloss’ Snapchat account, which showed Taylor showing off some serious moves inside the exclusive New York fashion event just hours before Solange took to social media to make her apparent diss.
Do you think Solange was taking aim at Taylor Swift and her “edgy” Met Gala look with her scathing tweet? What did you think of Taylor’s edgier style at the fashion event?
