Is Justin Bieber involved in a love triangle with Selena Gomez and Hailey Baldwin?

Justin Bieber was noticeably absent during last night’s Met Gala in New York City, but his ex-girlfriends, 23-year-old Selena Gomez and 19-year-old Hailey Baldwin, walked the red carpet at the event.

Although there were rumors prior to the bash which claimed the women may have an awkward run-in, they don’t appear to have crossed paths, as Gomez attended the event with Taylor Swift, and Baldwin likely stuck by the sides of her longtime friends Kendall and Kylie Jenner, and with Justin Bieber nowhere to be seen, Gomez was able to enjoy her night with friends.

“Selena is super excited to be with her girls tonight. She’s not sure if [Justin Bieber] is going to be at Met Gala or not, which can be a little nerve-wracking, but she’s just relieved she’ll have friends there with her,” an insider told Hollywood Life before the event. “She knows that they will have a blast together and she’s excited to see what everyone is wearing. Plus she’s wearing a gorgeous outfit. She just wants to have a fun, stress free time.”

In late December of last year, weeks after 37-year-old Kourtney Kardashian was spotted leaving his hotel room at 4 a.m., Justin Bieber appeared to go public with Baldwin, whom he quickly took to Anguilla for a romantic vacation. Justin Bieber had been linked to Baldwin before, but their numerous PDA photos from the island appeared to hint they were serious. Then, after returning to Los Angeles, the couple’s reported romance seemed to fizzle.

Although Justin Bieber was spotted with Baldwin on and off until early March, their outings were few and far between, and during the same time, Justin Bieber appeared to step out with other women, including Kardashian, Jessica Serfaty and Sarah Jeffery.

As Justin Bieber seemingly enjoyed his single life, he made a somewhat unexpected move in mid-March when he took to Instagram to share an old photo of himself and Gomez kissing. In the caption of the photo, which Gomez “liked,” Bieber wrote, “feels.” That same week, Bieber “liked” a photo shared by Gomez, which featured the singer sitting at a piano in a bikini, and Gomez was photographed at his Los Angeles concert.

Understandably, Baldwin was hurt by Justin Bieber’s public interest in Gomez.

“Hailey is in such a tough spot, she’s crazy about Justin and she would love to be the only woman in his life but she just can’t force him to commit,” a Hollywood Life source explained. “She’s always played it cool, or at least she tries to, but when he goes hot and cold on her like this it hurts her a lot more than she lets on. This whole thing with Selena is agonizing for her, she really believed that [Justin Bieber] had moved on.”

While it seemed to be Gomez who was standing in the way of Baldwin’s potential romance with Justin Bieber, it was later revealed that it was Kardashian whom he was currently hooking up with.

In April, a source told People Magazine that Justin Bieber and the reality star have been “hooking up on and off for a few months now.”

“They have hooked up a few times, including recently. It happens in L.A,” the source explained. “[Justin Bieber] has met her kids, but they don’t hook up around the kids. It’s on nights when she has help and is able to go out.”
