Christina Aguilera Quits ‘The Voice’ Due To Gwen Stefani Feud? Miley Cyrus And Alicia Keys Join Series

Why is Christina Aguilera leaving The Voice?

That is the question on everybody’s mind after Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys were confirmed as Season 11 coaches earlier this year.

Was it Christina Aguilera’s alleged feud with Gwen Stefani that led her to call it quits with NBC, or was she fired for her rumored diva behavior on set? While the possibilities are endless, a new report claims Christina Aguilera’s feud with Stefani may have pushed her over the edge and led her to leave the singing competition for good.

On April 30, News Everyday claimed Christina Aguilera had grown frustrated with the amount of publicity Stefani had been getting due to her relationship with their co-star Blake Shelton. Even though Stefani isn’t featured as a coach on Season 10, her romance with Shelton has taken center stage and possibly overshadowed Christina Aguilera’s role on the show.

Christina Aguilera has been a fixture on The Voice for years, but for the last few seasons, she and Stefani have been alternating seasons as coach. Stefani first appeared on the popular series as a Season 7 coach while Aguilera was tending to her second pregnancy. Then, during Season 9, she was brought back to the show as a coach (it was during this time that she and Shelton embarked on a romance).

Although Christina Aguilera was supposed to be the one and only female star of The Voice Season 10, producers opted to welcome Stefani back to the show yet again as an advisor. Still, the fact that Stefani was back at all when it wasn’t her turn reportedly didn’t sit well with Christina Aguilera. Adding to her issues with Stefani was the alleged bonus she and Shelton were offered to share their romance with fans.

“Blake and Gwen are getting an interesting offer from the show’s execs,” a source told Radar Online in early March. “Producers want the two of them to give fans a full-on love-fest this season when she is a mentor on Team Blake, and they are going to throw in huge bonuses for exclusives, such as on-air duets, engagements, etc.”

“[Christina Aguilera] is furious! [She] wants Gwen out of the picture and is already throwing mini-tantrums about it,” the insider said. “She said that Gwen is ‘not vocally talented’ and would not be on the show at all anymore if it was not for her relationship with Blake.”

Meanwhile, Shelton was reportedly ignoring his co-stars’ alleged diva behavior, choosing to instead focus on the positivity of The Voice and his romance with Stefani.

“Blake really does not care what [Christina Aguilera] does or says,” the insider said. “He is a completely different person now because of Gwen, so much more laid-back. He said that he’s grateful the show is the reason that he and Gwen found each other.”

The Wrap shared news of Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys’ additions to The Voice in late March, revealing the two women would be joined for Season 11 by Shelton and Adam Levine while Pharrell Williams would be taking the season off.

The outlet also said Stefani and Williams would likely be seen during the upcoming spring season, Season 12 but didn’t mention the possibility of Christina Aguilera returning to the show at all.
