Karrine Steffans: Music Video Model Details Affair With Jay Z, Claims She’s One Of His ‘Beckys’
Karrine Steffans is coming forward to take credit as one of Jay Z’s alleged affairs, with the music video model writing in an essay that she “had Beyonce’s husband” more than a decade ago.
The internet has been exploding with speculation over just who is the “Becky with the good hair” that Beyonce calls out in her album Lemonade. The reference is pointed at one of Jay Z’s alleged affairs, and there is speculation that it could be one of about a half-dozen different women.

Steffans is now throwing her hat in the ring as one of the potential “Beckys.” The music video model wrote an essay on the website XOJANE on Friday titled, “I am Becky with the good hair.”
“Over 15 years ago, I had Beyoncé’s husband,” Steffans explained in her piece.”Yes, I was one of Jay Z’s Beckys back in the year 2000 for about three minutes, which is about as long it takes me to satisfy a man in the back of a Maybach while overlooking the beaches of Malibu,” she continued.
Karrine Steffans explained that she was a 21-year-old single mother who had just moved to California. She met director Hype Williams and appeared in her first music video with Jay Z, saying the rapper showed her a lot of personal attention.
Steffans included details of a brief hook-up after the music video, writing that they never spoke of it again.
Karrine Steffans went on to explain that the hook-up wasn’t really an affair, as Jay Z and Beyonce were not yet together, but Steffans still sees herself as a “Becky.”
“This was pre-Yoncé, of course, but the fact is that a Becky is a Becky, and I was the Becky for many men, and they were all my salvation and my destitution. They were my reason and my rationale, my life and my death, and eventually, my fame and my infamy.”
Karrine Steffans has never been one to shy away from the details of her personal life. She even wrote a book, How to Make Love to a Martian, and during the book tour opened up about her relationship with rapper Lil Wayne. In an interview with 106 KMEL, Steffans said the relationship was a major inspiration for the book.
“I felt like if I don’t get this done now and something happens to him or to me, the world would never know that or never believe that this story isn’t ‘Rap-star-meets-video-vixen.’ Ironically, he taught me how to love,” Karrine said during the interview.
Steffans would go on to post an essay about Lil Wayne on her blog, describing their odd relationship.
“He may not be all mine, he may not be the best, but he’s here even when I’m not at my best. We say things, we do things, we hurt one another, other people hurt us but they don’t matter and our wounds heal when we’re together,” she wrote.
And last year, when a sex tape was released allegedly showing Lil Wayne with two women, Steffans spoke up and seemed to confirm that it was indeed the rapper being shown.
“Listen, I can only protect a dude for so long. Once the sex tape drops, the jig is up!” she tweeted.
While Karrine Steffans has come forward to share details about her hook-up with Jay Z, it seems clear that she’s not the “Becky” referenced by Beyonce. So the speculation will live on.
