Taylor Swift Avoids ‘Desperate’ John Mayer At Gigi Hadid’s 21st Birthday Bash
Taylor Swift and John Mayer last dated six years ago, but the world won’t let them forget. The exes almost had an awkward run-in with each other at Gigi Hadid’s 21st birthday party. Apparently, John Mayer is “desperate” to speak with Taylor Swift after all this time. What gives?
It was a busy night in Hollywood on Thursday night. It seems like all of young and slightly older Hollywood was out and about at various parties that night. One of the hottest parties of the night was Gigi Hadid’s own birthday bash, which was a star-studded event which included the likes of Hailey Baldwin, the Kardashian-Jenner clan, and of course, Taylor Swift and her girl squad.
It seems like there was a random mix of celebrities at the event. Taylor Swift showed up to The Nice Guy wearing a glittery one-shoulder gown. She also donned blood red lipstick, platform boots, and her new bleached blonde hair. TMZ caught both of the exes exiting the hopping party late in the night. The photographers even chased Mayer down and asked him if he spoke with Swift, to which he responded with his classic mumble and signature smirk.

An eyewitness told Hollywood Life what really went on between Taylor Swift and John Mayer. According to the insider, Mayer still has feelings for Swift, which is why he showed up to the bash in the first place.
“It’s so obvious that John still has feelings for Taylor. He kept trying to get her into a conversation, but Taylor wasn’t interested. She really just wanted to have fun with the girls and dance, which is what she did.”
The proof is on Taylor Swift’s Instagram page. She shared several black-and-white photos of herself surrounded by her model friends at the party. The source added that Gigi was all about spending time with the girls, even though her boyfriend Zayn Malik was there as well.
“No interaction or engagements, Taylor was focused on celebrating Gigi’s birthday and hanging out with her friends. Nothing awkward at all. T Swift was with Gigi all night celebrating!”
As for John Mayer, he still enjoyed himself at the party, even if Taylor Swift was not interested in speaking with him. A second insider said there was no awkwardness between the two at the party. “He was there for a while having fun. No drama or awkward moments at all!”
It’s rather odd that John was invited to Gigi’s party in the first place. Gigi threw the party herself, so she knows that Taylor wouldn’t feel comfortable having her infamous ex there. A third source told the Hollywood Life that John is good friends with Zayn, which is why he came to the party. But Gigi should have supported Taylor by not inviting him in the first place.
It’s also possible that the pop star was okay with the idea. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Swift said that her girl squad tends to stay drama-free when it comes to sharing boyfriends and overlapping relationships.
“We even have girls in our group who have dated the same people. It’s almost like the sisterhood has such a higher place on the list of priorities for us. It’s so much more important than some guy that it didn’t work out with.”
There are some who claim Taylor Swift still doesn’t like the musician because of their brief dating spell in 2010. Swift even wrote the scathing song “Dear John” about how poorly he treated her.
The famous breakup song includes the lyrics, “I see it all now that you’re gone, Don’t you think I was too young, To be messed with, The girl in the dress, Cried the whole way home, I should’ve known. Don’t you think nineteen’s too young to be played by your dark, twisted games, When I love you so.”
It’s obvious that both Taylor Swift and John Mayer have since moved on from their short relationship. Taylor is in a happy and long-term relationship with Calvin Harris, while John has been enjoying the single life since dating her arch nemesis Katy Perry.
