Jennifer Lopez’s Ex Husband Marc Anthony Reveals His Biggest Regret, Lopez Gets Candid About Divorce

Marc Anthony, ex-husband to Jennifer Lopez and father to five children, has made a confession about what he most regrets. Anthony admits that his career has taken away from his ability to be the dad he truly wishes to be.

The singer spoke with Tracy Smith of CBS News in an interview that will air on May 1. The Mirror relays the words of Anthony on the topic of his children, two of which he shares with Jennifer Lopez.

“The one regret would be that what I chose to do took so much of my time. What I would have done to have been a stay-at-home dad, and, you know, witnessed every second of everything. I would have loved that. Didn’t work out that way. So it’s the one thing that just tugs at me… that’s the biggest sacrifice. And you sort of start to wonder, was it all worth it? Was it worth it?”

Anthony, who divorced Jennifer Lopez in 2011, and then married model Shannon De Lima in 2014, also spoke about how he was as a child and how his parents viewed him.

“To my mom, I was a pain in the ass. To my dad, I was the light of his eyes, And to me, I was awkward. I had glasses, I weight two pounds. My dad always told me, and as God’s honest truth, ‘Son, we’re ugly. Work on your personality.’ “

After their divorce, Anthony and Lopez came to a custody agreement for their 8-year-old twins and Marc was given physical custody of the children 7 days a month. At the time, the exes were reported to have been amicable and even reunited last year to celebrate their children’s birthday.

Anthony also has a 22-year-old daughter named Ariana, whom he fathered with ex-girlfriend Debbie Rosado. The New York born entertainer also has a 15-year-old son named Christian and a 12-year-old son named Ryan, from his marriage to Dayanara Torres, a former Miss Universe.

Jennifer Lopez has since moved on since her split from Anthony, as the New York Daily News reminds. The triple threat diva has been linked to choreographer Casper Smart since her divorce in 2011 and the couple were even rumored to be planning to wed. Lopez, however, was sure to shrug off these rumors when she visited Ellen on her hit talk show and was able to set the record straight on the subject, telling the comedian talk show host “there’s no wedding.”

Prior to Marc Anthony, Lopez had been married 2 additional times. However, she seemed to be the most affected by her divorce from the singer and was very candid about the difficulty that came with the split from Marc. US Weekly reminds of the forthcoming confessions from Lopez during an interview the Amercian Idol judge gave to W Magazine.

“When my marriage ended, it was not easy to find forgiveness. It wasn’t the dream that I had hoped for, and it would have been easier to fan the flames of resentment, disappointment and anger. But Marc is the father of my children, and that’s never going away. So I have to work to make things right. And that is, by far, the hardest work I do. I hung in there for seven years. I knew very quickly that it wasn’t the right thing.”

The singer and actress was also open about her hopes for that happy ending and spoke about the fact that marriage is not off the table.

“I still think about getting married and having that long life with someone. I love the movie The Notebook. A dream of mine is to grow old with someone.”
