Drake Reveals His Present Relationship With Nicki Minaj

Drake is one of the most successful rappers in the music industry. After joining Lil Wayne’s Young Money Entertainment label in 2009, he got to know Nicki Minaj after being signed.

That said, he has had his share of ups and downs when it comes to relationships. He has dated two of hip-hop’s best female artists, Nicki Minaj and Rihanna. Focusing on his relationship with Nicki Minaj, it reportedly began in 2009 while working under the Young Money label. They performed several collaborations together, which sparked dating rumors at the time. In 2010, he included some controversial lyrics in his song “Thank Me Later,” in regard to Nicki. The line went as follows.

“I love Nicki Minaj/ I told her I’d admit it/ I hope one day we get married just to say we f***ing did it/ And girl I’m f***ing serious/ I’m with it if you with it/ Cause your verses turn me on and your pants are mighty fitted”

And during Nicki Minaj’s Hot 97 Thanksgiving Thank You Concert, she invited Drake on stage and shared a kiss with him. However, she stated that she still had her lipstick on, saying, “I know you New York – don’t be starting something.”

Drake later on confessed to having a crush on Nicki Minaj. He revealed this while on MTV2’s Sucker Free Countdown, saying, “I’ve always really, actually, really had a crush on her, always really loved her, and she’s always just looked at me as, like, her little brother.”

In August 2010, Drake and Nicki Minaj had a Twitter marriage, with Drake declaring the following.

“Please refer to @nickiminaj as Mrs. Aubrey Drake Graham and dont stare at her too long. She’s finally mine. :)”

Nicki Minaj retweeted the tweet and added, “Yes, its true. Drake and I tied the knot.”

Moreover, Nicki Minaj’s song “Moment 4 Life” featured Drake and he included the line, “Me and Nicki getting married today.” The corresponding music video was also wedding-themed. In an interview following the release of the video, Nicki Minaj offered the following statement, as reported by Capital Xtra, in regard to her relationship with Drake and the controversial video.

“Obviously, Drake and I, we’ve played around so much with the whole marriage thing and stuff like that, so people have come to be kind of intrigued about us.”

Fast forward to current events and Nicki Minaj is in a relationship with Meek Mill, who has for some time now been at loggerheads with Drake, with their differences eventually leading to diss tracks from both sides. The rift is said to have affected Nicki’s relationship with Drake, as associates under the Young Money music label confirm. Just yesterday, Drake revealed that he still loves Minaj. However, he also highlighted that the two have not spoken for some time. The following was his statement, as reported by Hollywood Life.

“I don’t really talk to Nicki. Again, another person that I have a lot of love for and a lot of respect, not only for our past and how much work and time we put in, but even just the way she dealt with the situation [regarding Birdman and Lil Wayne] at hand. I understand what love is, and I understand a personal situation. She dealt with me how I would expect her to, which was with class, and I could only ever do the same.”
