There Will Be No ‘Face-Off’ Between Robert Pattinson And Kristen Stewart At MTV’s Video Music Awards

That sound you can hear? The gnashing teeth of countless gossip hacks (sorry, journalists) as their hopes of a ringside seat at a tense ‘heartbroken-hearthrob-meets-forlorn-ex-or-not’ showdown between Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart at MTV’s upcoming Video Music Awards — are dashed.

According to Gossip Cop, “there will be no awkward encounter between the Twilight stars.” It has since been confirmed that Stewart will be supporting her film On The Road at this year’s Toronto Film Festival (which runs from September 6 – 13) and will be doing press there when it screens.

As for Pattinson, currently promoting his new filmCosmopolis, Gossip Cop insist the Brit was never a dead cert for MTV’s throwdown. However, the website did leave a small window of possibility open that Pattinson might show. If so, “a decision will be made several days before the event.”

Scheduled to take place at the Staples Center on September 6, it’s likely some Twilight fans will be disappointed if neither star goes.

But coming so soon after the scandal that erupted when compromising pictures of Stewart precipitated a tabloid frenzy, it’s no wonder heaven and earth isn’t being moved to attend an event that will only generate more.

But fear not, here’s a clutch of just released new stills from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2. The film hits theaters on November 16.
