Jenny McCarthy, Brian Urlacher Split

Jenny McCarthy has made headlines once again, but this time it’s not over some stunning bikini photos. Instead, McCarthy has announced that she and Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher have split.

Jenny McCarthy and Brian Urlacher have broken up. Though the two have been very tight-lipped about their courtship, McCarthy went very public about their break-up, reports People. “Brian and I have decided to turn our romance into an amazing friendship,” the 39-year-old Playboy cover girl said in a statement on Thursday. “I will continue to be the biggest cheerleader for him. Go, Bears!” So it appears that the break-up wasn’t acrimonious, despite the fact that it’s a relative surprise to the rest of us.

The couple had been dating since at least May of this year, when McCarthy confirmed their relationship with a brief statement. “I can confirm that yes, it’s true, we are dating,” she said, according to USA Today.

Things between the two also seemed to be on the up-and-up during a July 16th appearance on Chelsea Lately, notes MSN. She told host and long-time friend Chelsea Handler that “It’s going really good. I didn’t have to find love in the wild,” in a quip referencing her NBC dating series. “I found it on the football field.”

“That’s very exciting. I’m happy for you,” Handler joked back. “You were dating some real f***ing losers.”

McCarthy, herself a Chicago native, was married to actor/director John Mallory Asher between 2001 and 2005. Together, they have a 10-year-old son, Evan, who was the subject of some pretty intense fallout between McCarthy and her subsequent long-term boyfriend Jim Carrey, whom she dated from 2005 to 2010. Urlacher’s most famous ex is Paris Hilton, whom he was linked to romantically in 2003.
