Lil Wayne is one of the most successful artists in the hip-hop industry and for good reason – he has for the past eight or so years managed to draw fans of different generations. Born in 1982, he grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. At the time, his mother was a cook, and when he was two, his father abandoned them. He later on lived with Birdman after being signed to the Cash Money music label while just 11, as a result of a lot of persistence. This is how it happened.
“In the impoverished Hollygrove district of New Orleans, circa 1993, a hungry and aspiring 11-year-old rapper by the name of Dwayne Carter met Brian “Baby” Williams—AKA Birdman—the perpetually scowling mogul at the helm of Cash Money Records. The young Carter impressed the entrepreneur with writing and rapping skills well beyond his years.
At first Williams balked at signing a performer so young to his label. However, Carter’s persistence, in the form of frequent visits to Cash Money headquarters and leaving messages spinning even more rhymes on Williams’ answering machine, eventually paid off.”

However, he considers his step father, Rabbit, to be his real father, as he was his only father figure growing up, and even has a tattoo of him on his arm. Rabbit was murdered when Wayne was just 14 and about to become a star. Living a life full of hardship and violence, Lil Wayne is said to have started carrying a gun when he was just 11, and when he was 12, Rabbit let him play with a.44 Taurus Magnum, but he accidentally shot himself and was put on life support for several weeks.
On his relationship with his real father, he in 2011 said the following about him.
“He don’t give a s**t about me. And I don’t give a s**t about him. I know his friends be like, ‘Damn, n***a. That is not your son. Stop lying. N***a, you could be living in a motherf*****g ranch right now, n***a.’ You know, whatever your father’s into, if you’re rich, you’re gonna get him that s**t. I would’ve got that n***a all kinda harnesses, ranches—you know what I mean? I saw the n***a recently—I had a show in New Orleans. And I ain’t afraid to put this out there, ’cause this is just how much I don’t give a f**k about a n***a, and I want people to see how you’re not supposed to be.”

That said Lil Wayne has four kids, namely, Reginae Carter, who was born in 1998, Dwayne Michael Carter III – 2008, Cameron Carter – 2009, and Neal Carter – 2009. He regularly spoils his daughter Reginae, who is his eldest. For example, she celebrated her sixteenth birthday like real royalty, complete with a Nicki Minaj performance, all courtesy of Lil Wayne. On top of that, she got two cars – a BMW SUV and a Ferrari GTO.
For her seventeenth birthday, which she celebrated last year, she received a 2016 Range Rover from the rapper. As such, Reginae does not take it lightly when someone makes a negative comment about her father. And that is exactly what happened when an Instagram user Bonita4Real posted the following message on her Instagram account.
“Your daddy is horrible, bae,”
Reginae responded with the following message.
“Oh, I have a great life and get treated like a queen by my father,” Reginae responded. “I don’t know you so take my advice and dismiss yourself, ’cause you’re annoying. Get a job, honey and stop trying to come up off of rappers. I’m 17 with more knowledge than you. Now how that sound?”
