Gwen Stefani Tackling Gavin Rossdale And Nanny Mindy Mann’s Affair In New Music Video

Gwen Stefani’s last music video was an upbeat piece of moving pop art that included a few fun references to her relationship with Blake Shelton. Her next music video will also draw from her personal life, but its mood and subject matter will be very different. According to recent reports, she’s working on a video inspired by her divorce from her husband of 13 years, Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale.

Gwen Stefani is in the early stages of producing a video for an unknown song from her new album, This Is What the Truth Feels Like, and a casting call provides some major clues about its theme. According to Popsugar, Stefani’s new video will star three main characters: a fashion-forward mother named Trudy, a handsome philanderer named Troy, and a pretty young woman named Nanny.

The characters are likely based on Gwen, Gavin, and the nanny who reportedly played a large role in the demise of their marriage, Mindy Mann. There’s no word on whether the music video character named Nanny will be shown working as a nanny in Gwen Stefani’s new video.

Last November, Us Weekly reported that Gavin Rossdale and Mindy Mann had been carrying on a three-year-long affair right under Gwen’s nose. The “Misery” singer didn’t find out what was going on until one of her children’s other nannies discovered nude photos and explicit text messages between Gavin and Mindy on an iPad that the family shared.

The casting call for Gwen’s new music video makes a point of mentioning main character Trudy’s sense of style, so perhaps Gwen plans using the video to mock Mindy Mann for giving her the Single White Female treatment. Gwen reportedly thought it was “weird” that the nanny started dressing and acting like her shortly after she was hired in 2008. On multiple occasions, Mann was photographed wearing outfits that were almost completely identical to those owned by her female employer.

“If Gwen would eat something or do a workout or get a new handbag, Mindy would do the same thing,” a source told Us Weekly.

Popsugar speculates that Gwen Stefani’s new music video is for “Red Flag” or “Naughty,” which are both songs about her divorce from Gavin Rossdale. In “Red Flag,” Gwen calls someone out for screwing up and laments that she missed glaring warning signs. In “Naughty,” she reprimands her lover for hiding something from her. Stefani also sings about discovering his secret.

“Thinking that nobody, nobody knows / But I got your number, I got your codes,” she warns.

Stefani’s new music video is described as being “short,” and “Naughty” is shorter than “Red Flag” by about 15 seconds.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Gwen Stefani has stated that she doesn’t want to share all the dirty details of her divorce from Gavin Rossdale because she wants to protect her three sons — 9-year-old Kingston, 7-year-old Zuma, and 2-year-old Apollo — from being hurt by the truth about their father. Her new music video could be her way of acknowledging that the rumors about Gavin and the nanny are true without explicitly spelling it out.

Stefani’s upcoming music video will be directed by Sophie Muller, who also worked on the live music video for “Make Me Like You.” It will reportedly have “a very 1950’s melodrama sensibility,” whereas the “Make Me Like You” video was more of a ’60s throwback with mod-style costumes, an old school beauty salon set, and colorful scenes straight out of one of Austin Powers’ shag pad parties. The “Make Me Like You” video also included a few shout-outs to Blake Shelton, including a bar named “Blake’s” and a reference to the relentless rumors that Gwen is pregnant with her cowboy beau’s baby.

Gwen Stefani’s new video will start shooting next week. Which song do you think it will be set to?
