Jodie Sweetin Nailed Her Emotional Contemporary Dance On ‘Dancing With The Stars’ After Injury Scare

It was another amazing night full of great performances on Dancing with the Stars, but for Jodie Sweetin, it almost didn’t happen. She ended up with an ankle injury and almost had to bail. However, she persevered and had one of her best dances so far this season.

The show on Monday night was all about famous dances that were the most memorable through the years, as reported by USA Today. The Fuller House star, along with her pro partner Keo Motsepe, did a contemporary dance to Pink’s hit song “Try.” Unfortunately, they almost got sidelined when Jodie hurt her ankle in rehearsal as they were practicing a very difficult dance move.

Sweetin was trying to lift her partner in a difficult acrobatic move, but it all went wrong when Keo fell and slammed right down on her ankle. She screamed in pain and was immediately sent to the hospital. However, she came back soon after with her ankle taped up ready to get back to rehearsing and to eventually perform. The contemporary dance was beautifully choreographed with the help of RJ Durell and Nick Florez, who just happens to be the choreographers for Pink’s iconic performance at the American Music Awards.

The dance portrayed her as a woman on a roller coaster of emotions. The whole emotional effect was exactly what Jodie Sweetin and Keo Motsepe was going for and they nailed it.

Jodie came out in a flowing green dress complete with colored powder on her that looked like paint. Her shirtless partner joined her for a few minutes of intensity and emotion. There was some dragging and throwing down going on. At one point, Jodie threw Keo down where he went crashing into a table breaking it in two.

In the midst of the struggles and intense shoving matches, there were also some amazing lifts and interesting dance moves. The audience was clapping before the dance ended and got louder once they were finished.

The judges gave the couple 25 out of 30. While all three of them loved it, there was a small slip up when Sweetin struggled a bit with the lift, but she eventually got it right and it ended up to be one of the highlights of the performance. Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman, and Bruno Tonioli all praised her for such a beautiful performance. Len, who was celebrating his birthday on the show, had this to say.

“I thought you performed it so well. I know there was a little struggle getting into the lift, and that lift is so iconic, but you pulled it off.”

One other person who loved their dance is Jodie’s Fuller House co-star Candace Cameron Bure. She tweeted her excitement and support last night after they performed their routine.

“I’m crying I’m so proud of my lil sis @JodieSweetin. You’re beautiful #DWTS @keodancer well done.”

Bure also gave Sweetin some advice on how to cope with being on Dancing with the Stars, as reported by Today. She and Keo had paid a visit to the Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday where she talked about what the former DWTS contestant told her to get her ready for the whole process.

“She warned me. She was like, ‘It’s an amazing experience. It’s life-changing. But it will push the limits of what you think you are physically, mentally and emotionally able to do.'”

She also admitted that she cries a lot on Dancing with the Stars. Jodie said that she cries pretty much every week, whether it is because she is happy, sad, or even just from being so tired from practicing so much.

Were you surprised that Jodie Sweetin and Keo Motsepe didn’t get at least one 10 from the judges?
