‘RHOBH’ Star Yolanda Foster Talks Lyme Disease After Divorce From Husband David Foster Is Confirmed

Yolanda Foster is focused on Lyme disease as her divorce from husband David Foster continues to be a hot topic on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 6.

On Monday, April 25, ahead of the second part of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion, Yolanda Foster took to Instagram, where she shared a meme about the illness.

“Lyme is pathologically ignored by the CDC… 40 years after the discovery of Lyme disease, the CDC continues to promote out-of-date and outmoded Lyme treatment guidelines by the Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA), despite an IOM certified, up-to-date alternative available from International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society (ILADS). Promoting the IDSA guidelines puts patients at serious risk,” the message read.

Along with the informative meme, Yolanda Foster told fans, “Guidelines must be changed in order for chronic Lyme patients to get the treatment they deserve……… #LymeDiseaseAwareness #WemustfindACure #AffordableForAll Sign petition at @lymestats.”

Yolanda Foster was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2012 just months after marrying husband David on November 11, 2011. During last week’s first part of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion, she admitted that she and David would likely still be together if it weren’t for her health struggles.

Yolanda Foster also addressed how her Lyme disease impacted her marriage to David weeks ago.

“The patient suffers, but the caretakers suffer too. Because life doesn’t only change for us, it changes for the person next to you,” Yolanda Foster explained during an appearance on The Dr. Oz Show, via Us Weekly.

“At the end of the day, David never changed, I changed,” Yolanda Foster admitted. “Unfortunately, these are the cards that life dealt me. It wasn’t by choice. But I’m not the woman I used to be and I probably will never be again. My focus, my energy goes to trying to get well, trying to make a difference, trying to find a cure for my children… and David’s life is really traveling, going to concerts, loud music. And I mean, I couldn’t, I can barely listen to the radio.”

Since her Lyme disease diagnosis in 2015, Yolanda Foster has been focused on her recovery, and understandably, her marriage to David took a backseat at times. While Yolanda Foster did travel to Asia with David, her trip included treatments that weren’t yet approved in the United States. When she returned, her efforts to get well continued.

Although Yolanda Foster’s marriage came to an end last year around the time filming wrapped on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 6, her Lyme disease struggles have continued. Luckily, she has seen an improvement in her health in the months since she removed a leaky implant.

As fans of the show saw during Season 6, Yolanda Foster traveled to Ohio last year to have an explant surgery, and once her implants were removed, her Lyme disease symptoms substantially subsided. In fact, months later, Yolanda Foster was able to travel to New York City, where she was honored for raising awareness for the illness.

In the months since her NYC trip, Yolanda Foster has traveled numerous times and recently enjoyed a vacation with a friend in Tahiti.
