Here’s Why Zac Efron Broke Up With Sam Miro After Two Years Of Dating

Everyone was shocked when news broke Monday that Zac Efron has reportedly split with girlfriend Sami Miro. No one had an idea what could have caused the split, but a source for Hollywood Life recently revealed the real reason on why the High School Musical star and Miro went on their separate ways after two years of dating each other.

Efron and Miro, both 28, seemed inseparable when they started dating back in 2014, but as The Inquisitr previously confirmed, the couple are no more.

Take a look at Zac Efron’s Instagram account right now, and you’ll notice that all photos that had Sami Miro in them have been removed. Efron also stopped following Mira on Instagram and Twitter. Sam, for her part, continues to follow Zac on all of her social media accounts.

When a celebrity “unfollows” another celebrity in social media, you just know something bad has gone down between them. What could have gone wrong between Efron and Miro? The real reason may not be what you expected.

According to a source for Hollywood Life, the split was on account of Zac “finally getting to a place in Hollywood where he wants to be.”

“With big tent-poles like Baywatch and Neighbors 2 coming down the line he can now start picking roles that get him to a different place in Hollywood,” the source said.

“He always has wanted to be the next Leo DiCaprio and he hopes now that he has the box office behind him that producers and directors will start giving him more chances other than the lame romantic comedies he gets pitched every five minutes,” the source continued.

“All of this totally took a toll on his relationship with Sami,” the source explained. “He was moving forward in his career and focusing everything on that and the relationship took the hit. There is no plans for reconciliation. It was him who broke things off and she is heartbroken!”

The split comes as a shock to many, considering that Efron has been returning to LA every weekend to spend some time with Miro even when he’s busy filming Baywatch during weekdays.

The former couple was recently spotted shopping at an LA restaurant on April 11. Miro wasn’t with Efron during the rest of the weekend, and was spotted attending several parties in Los Angeles without Efron. On Friday, Miro made a post on Instagram with the caption: “Donde estas mi amor. Nika Choker”

Now that Zac and Miro are no more, it’s hard to believe that the Baywatch star gushed over his relationship with her just this January.

“Things are great,” Efron said. “She’s awesome.”

He also said that one of the reasons why their relationship has been going so well is because they love to go on adventures together.

“We get to do cool stuff,” said Efron. “We do a lot of adventurous stuff together. When I’m not working we hit the road.”

Zac shared photos of some of their adventures together, but they are gone now on account of the aforementioned Instagram purge.

In September of last year, Zac and Miro celebrated their first year of being a couple by posting shout-outs to each other on Twitter.

“Happy anniversary baby. I love you. September 5th,” Zac’s caption for a recently deleted tweet went.

Miró responded with her own sweet Twitter note, along with a photo of them together, writing, “Time flies when you’re having fun. Happy anniversary baby. I love you too.”
