Kimberly 'Lil Kim' Jones: New Look Possibly Stems From Her Father And Childhood

Kim has sparked a roaring wildfire ablaze social media due to her newly publicized look. Ms. Jones appears "European" in nationality. And, the men in her life might be the influence.

As you've probably noticed, Lil Kim doesn't quite look like herself — or at least the musical persona everyone's come to know. However, this transition possibly doesn't have much to do with Kim as an artist. It seems to be more personal.

In an interview with Rap Reviews, Kim states, "I think Kimberly Jones is a real person [...] Lil' Kim is NOT supposed to be real. I think that's the misconception." So, since her music personality isn't real, she wouldn't make such a permanent alteration to her appearance for someone who isn't real, right? Why did she change her look so drastically?

If you research her past, Kimberly Jones comes from an "motivated" childhood. While you might think that'd be a good thing, given her present countenance, the motivation was horrible. Essentially, like most children, she always tried to impress and gain the approval of her father. However, according to Kimberly, nothing she did was ever good enough.

According to Newsweek, even while at 8 years of age, Kim's father disapproved of her appearance and demeanor. During an interview, Kim notes as follows.

"It was like I could do nothing right. Everything about me was wrong — my hair, my clothes, just me."
Likewise, Kimberly's mother — Ruby Jones — mentioned that her daughter always tried to set herself apart from everyone else, and Kim's father "never understood." As it probably would affect any daughter who constantly longs for her father's approval, it hurt her deeply that she wasn't accepted as herself.
At an early age, Kimberly "Lil Kim" Jones got involved with drug-dealers and grown men. Yet, like her father, these men rarely accepted her. In the Newsweek interview, Kim noted that the men cheated on her repeatedly — and usually with someone who didn't look anything like her.
"All my life men have told me I wasn't pretty enough — even the men I was dating. And I'd be like, 'Well, why are you with me, then?' It's always been men putting me down just like my dad. To this day when someone says I'm cute, I can't see it. I don't see it no matter what anybody says.

"I have low self-esteem and I always have. Guys always cheated on me with women who were European-looking. You know, the long-hair type. Really beautiful women that left me thinking, 'How I can I compete with that?' Being a regular black girl wasn't good enough."

So, Kim underwent several surgeries to change her look, including receiving implants. To this, she notes, "White women get them every day. It was to make me look the way I wanted to look. It's my body."

Ever since, Kim has surrounded herself with a new clique, mostly of people who make-up her definition of "European." Most recently, Jones was seen hanging with Kim Kardashian-West.

Unfortunately, Kimberly "Lil Kim" Jones is still having image complications that possibly stem from her childhood and teenage disapproval among men. According to Psychology Today, childhood is the most important time to develop key personality and self-image characteristics in a person.

While people can reprogram themselves and their self-esteem, it doesn't necessarily happen to everyone. Similar to Lil Kim, it's almost normal that everyday adults live and struggle with childhood complexes.

According to Toronto Sun, Kimberly Jones is 41 years of age. That's a long time to struggle with self-image, right? However, you can bet she's not the only female (or male) her age with similar complexes.
