William and Harry must have had a real blast at the Star Wars studios last week -- rumor has it that the two princes are going to make a surprise appearance as stormtroopers in the next movie. The super cute idea of the brothers dressing up and appearing incognito in one of the biggest movie franchises ever is the best thing we've heard all day.
As reported by the Daily Mail, the princes "recorded the scene when they visited the set last week" when they were on a tour of the Star Wars studios outside London. The brothers had a ball meeting the cast and playing with blasters and lightsabers, and now it seems their geekiest dreams are coming true.
While the scene has apparently been filmed, and "everyone apart from the director, producer and essential crew was cleared from the set," it isn't confirmed if the scene will make the final cut to the movie. However, millions of movie-goers trying to guess which stormtroopers are British royals sounds like a pretty good draw.
William and Harry will probably never confirm or deny their appearance in Star Wars, and with their faces hidden beneath the black and white helmets, we might never know for sure. However, the Daily Mail confirmed the scene in which the princes appear, so at least we know where to pay particular attention.
"The line given was that they were going to have lunch and a private tour of the rest of the set. What really happened is that the director came over and told them it was time to 'get suited' and off they went to the wardrobe department. The Princes dressed up in full Stormtrooper gear and filmed a scene in which Rey and Finn infiltrate a secret base. The rebel characters are in a lift with Benicio del Toro's character when a group of Stormtroopers enter — two of whom are William and Harry."After William and Harry filmed the scene, they presented a birthday cake to a crew member. "The guy said it was surreal, being presented with a birthday cake by the future King of England who was dressed as a Stormtrooper."
William and Harry's epic lightsaber battle at Pinewood Studios last week earned them some pretty high praise from the Star Wars leading lady herself. Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey in the latest movies, "joked about the Princes' 'geekiness' during their visit, which was linked to William's role as president of Bafta. She said: 'The minute you see someone with a lightsaber, you just think, "You're one of us." ' "
Although stormtroopers are obviously on the wrong side in the Star Wars universe, Harry might have preferred being a "good guy." The prince pouted when he had to fight with a Sith lightsaber, " 'Why do I always have to be the baddie?' before turning to his brother with mock menace, saying 'Come on, let's dance.' " Then followed the most fun and adorable lightsaber fight ever.
