It’s no secret that Lil’ Kim has been changing her looks for years. She looks completely different from when she stepped into the hip-hop game in the early 90s. But Kim’s recent photos have fans concerned that she’s been taking it too far.

During most of the 90s and early 2000s, Lil’ Kim was known for her scandalous costumes and sexually charged lyrics. Nowadays, she’s known for her ever-changing looks. The rapper has become the center of plastic surgery and skin bleaching rumors for years, but it looks like it’s apparent in her latest set of photos.
Here’s what Lil’ Kim posted a six-collage photo on Sunday, April 24, with the caption: “Miami heat.” Little did she know this very post would spark so much heat on social media. Kim’s seen sporting blonde hair and a lighter complexion. Some would say that she looks like any other Instagram model.
Not only are her features dramatically different, but her skin is noticeably lighter. Some fans took to Twitter to exclaim their shock and concern over Lil’ Kim’s recent photos. Meanwhile, others poked fun at the expense of the rapper.
This isn’t the first time that Lil’ Kim has sparked the plastic surgery rumors. She was rumored to have undergone plastic surgery around March, 2012, when she first made an appearance with her smaller nose and lighter complexion. Lil’ Kim then sparked the rumors again when she made an appearance on Dancing With the Stars in 2015.
So, what happened to Lil’ Kim? It seems like the “Queen Bee” suffers from low self-esteem or self-hatred. In an interview with Newsweek in 2000, Kim revealed that men never found her desirable enough to love or date.
“All my life men have told me I wasn’t pretty enough – even the men I was dating. And I’d be like, ‘Well, why are you with me, then?’ It’s always been men putting me down just like my dad. To this day, when someone says I’m cute, I can’t see it. I don’t see it no matter what anybody says.”
It could be possible that the negative and cruel comments that Lil’ Kim received from men is the reason why she altered herself into resembling a white woman. It’s also possible that she suffers from dysmorphic disorder, according to the Root, but she has never been properly diagnosed by a professional.
Earlier this year, Lil’ Kim sparked the skin bleaching rumors when she took to Instagram to share another startling photo of herself. She tweeted a photo of herself with the message: “Starting off 2016 right with the @flattummytea detox. This tea littt. Go check out their sale!”
What also was lit was Lil’ Kim’s tweets. Fans slammed her for promoting detox tea while others slammed her for her looks. According to the Daily News, Lil’ Kim has since denied the rumors while Stereotude claims that she’s always been open and honest about the desire to alter her appearance.
