Dean McDermott Shocks Tori Spelling With Surprise Proposal During Family Vacation

Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott are engaged — again!

According to People Magazine, Spelling and McDermott have been on vacation over the past week with their four children: sons Liam, 9, and Finn, 3, and daughters Stella, 7, Hattie, 4. The family has been visiting Denmark and the French countryside, according to a source, and McDermott found it to be the perfect time to propose to his wife.

A photographer captured the touching moment when Dean got down on one knee at the Café de L’Homme overlooking the Eiffel Tower to ask Tori to marry him for the third time.

McDermott carefully planned the special moment, and proposed to Spelling with an antique ring, according to Us Weekly. The proposal took place just weeks before the couple will celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary.

“Dean planned it with the owners,” Spelling told photographer Michael Simon. “[He wanted] to have the terrace all reserved and private for us, and told me we were going to get coffee and hot chocolates for the kids. And then surprised me when he got down on one knee and presented me with an antique engagement ring.”

“This was a perfect family moment for unity and love!” Spelling added. “No date for the wedding is set, yet, but our 10 year anniversary will take place in May.”

Dean first proposed to Tori on Christmas Eve in 2005. They wed six months later in May, 2006, and then on Christmas Day, 2006, he popped the question again while they were visiting his family in Canada.

“We sat on a bench overlooking the lake and I gave Tori her last Christmas present,” McDermott said at the time. “I’d wrapped the ring in a much bigger box, and as soon as she opened the ring box I asked her to marry me again. It was very romantic and magical.”

“I immediately started crying and said ‘Yes! Again and again and again!’ What made it so special was the notion that a year ago when he proposed, the thought of having a baby together was just in our hearts, and now our baby boy that we created from our love is nestled in my belly,” Spelling added about her second proposal.

Dean’s latest proposal comes after years of struggles for the couple. In 2014, McDermott admitted to having an affair with Emily Goodhand while filming a TV show in Canada, and then he later entered rehab. The aftermath of Dean’s cheating scandal was documented on the Lifetime series True Tori. Despite McDermott’s affair, Spelling said the two emerged stronger, and built their relationship from the ground up.

“We had to deconstruct our relationship,” Spelling said. “We really did, and I feel like we’re kind of turning monogamy on its head, flipping it and being like, ‘Well […] through some fighting we’ve been told what life should be, what marriage should be.'”

“I was like, ‘You know what? I love this man. I’m going to make this work,'” she continued. “We started at ground zero and built it back up. It’s amazing. In May, it’s going to be 10 years. Ten years! A decade.”
