‘The Vampire Diaries’ Spoilers: Things Are About To Get ‘Crazy’ And ‘Intense,’ And There’s A Huge Twist

So much of the focus for the current season of The Vampire Diaries is whether it will be the last season, or if Season 8 will be the last, or if Ian Somerhalder is leaving. One can’t forget that there is still so much happening on-screen, and it’s only just beginning. Michael Malarkey, who plays Enzo, spoke on the upcoming episode titled “Somebody That I Used to Know,” and said that things are about to get “crazy,” “intense,” and there’s a big twist coming.

Please note that past this point are possible SPOILERS for the current season of The Vampire Diaries. If you don’t want to know what may end up happening, then please just back out and stop reading now.

Collider got the chance to speak with Malarkey, who plays Enzo, and decided to discuss things on The Vampire Diaries. One of the main topics of conversation is the upcoming episode and Enzo’s efforts to protect Bonnie while risking his own life. This leads to the duo teaming up with Damon (Somerhalder) in an effort to save Bonnie’s life and rectify things.

The site asked Malarkey about how things are with Enzo and Bonnie since they are so much fun to watch, and anything could happen with them. When it comes time to see what happens next though, he dropped a bombshell.

“Oh, my god, you have no idea how crazy it’s going to get! It’s pretty intense. It’s of Shakespearean propositions. Enzo is poisoning the love of his life without his own knowledge of it. That’s huge! What a terrible thing to happen to two people who have just finally found something, after years of not having anything. But, that makes all of the scenes very high stakes and very intense. There’s a crazy twist coming up, that you’ll find out very soon.”

Adding Damon to the combination of Bonnie and Enzo makes things even more unpredictable. Even though the trio is quite unexpected and don’t seem like a good mix, fans realize that they do all work together quite well.

There is so much history between all of them at different stages in The Vampire Diaries, but never together as a trio. That makes things not only interesting, but really quite fun.

“There are a lot of good one-liners and looks between those three. Oh, man, it’s a very complex thing going on with the three of them. You have Bonnie and Damon’s entire history, and you have Damon and Enzo’s entire history, and then you have this new but very real romantic history between Bonnie and Enzo. You’ve got this whole three-pronged clusterf**k going on. It makes for some great drama and some really, really tasty scenes coming up between the three of us.”

As everything gets nuts for this season, it’s hard to avoid the rumors of what will end up happening after it is over. Melty is reporting that The Vampire Diaries is returning for an eighth season, and now fans want to know if there will be a ninth. No matter what happens after Season 8, there will be no more Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore) or Kat Graham (Bonnie Bennett).

Graham confirmed a while back that Season 8 would be her last, but Somerhalder has left fans kind of dangling on a wire. Now, he’s said that Season 8 is “what he believes” will be his last season, but that kind of leaves things still flailing in the wind and possibly able to return to solid ground.

The Vampire Diaries is still one of the hottest shows on all of television, and no matter who is or isn’t on it, that will continue. Well, it will continue until the show actually ends up going off the air completely. Ian Somerhalder is still there for the time, and fans need to focus on what’s taking place in each episode as Season 7 is almost over and things are going to get crazy.
