‘Game Of Thrones’: Four Ways Jon Snow Could Return In Season 6

The countdown to the premiere of Game of Thrones is on. Fans are down to two days, and they can’t wait to find out what happens next with so many characters. Viewers have seen a clip of Theon and Sansa fleeing from Winterfell and Ramsay Bolton. Will they make it? There’s word that the twisted relationship between Cersei and Jaime will get even more dark and strange. Is that possible?

Game of Thrones showrunners have promised the best season yet, complete with epic battle scenes and female characters who find their strength and show fans what they’re made of. And then there’s the question that’s been discussed constantly since Season 5 wrapped up. Is Jon Snow dead? Even those who are convinced that he is dead have posed another question. Will he come back to life? Resurrections have happened before on Game of Thrones, and fans have learned that if you don’t see them burned or beheaded, that character you thought died may very well still be living. The folks at TV Guide are convinced Jon Snow will return, and they’ve come up with four ways that could happen.

The first theory they propose is that the writers of Game of Thrones will bring Snow back as a White Walker. In Season 5’s episode titled “Hardhome,” Jon Snow encounters the Night’s King. Take a look.

It’s amazing how much is communicated in this Game of Thrones scene without anyone speaking a word. The Night’s King is very focused on Jon Snow. He’s very intent on him. Then there’s the look on his face when he sees Snow kill a Walker.

Then there’s the belief that the Night’s King is a member of one of the Game of Thrones families — the Starks. This means he is somehow related to Snow. Fans saw the Night’s King resurrect the dead by simply raising his arms in the first clip. He could do the same with Jon so they could together fight the Boltons or Daenerys Targaryen’s dragons.

The second theory about how fans may see Jon Snow alive in Season 6 of Game of Thrones involves Melisandre, the Red Priestess. She returned to Castle Black in Season 5 and she knows how to raise someone from the dead. And Melisandre told Jon last season that she sees power in him that he is not embracing. She took her best shot at seducing him, telling him they could be amazing together if they joined their powers. This gives the Red Priestess a strong motive for resurrecting Snow.

The third theory about Jon Snow’s return to Game of Thrones says that he will warg into his direwolf, Ghost. This one is a little more of a stretch, but it’s possible. Game of Thrones has never shown viewers that Snow has the ability to warg, but his brother, Bran, does, so maybe it’s hereditary, and he will discover this ability just as he’s about to slip away from his body.

The fourth theory that TV Guide proposes isn’t really a theory. It’s a suggestion that if Snow does warg into Ghost, that viewers will see some Game of Thrones episodes from the perspective of Ghost. A fun idea.

It’s pretty obvious that Snow died at the end of Season 5 of Game of Thrones. But, as previously mentioned, viewers didn’t see his body burned and didn’t see him beheaded, and in the Game of Thrones world, that means he may not remain dead. Plus, there’s the whole issue of his real parents and the R+L=J theory that was previously discussed on Inquisitr. There is reason to believe, based on trailers and teasers, that this will be addressed in Game of Thrones Season 6. Why do that if the fan-favorite Wall Watcher is gone forever?

Viewers will find out once and for all soon. Season 6 of Game of Thrones premieres on HBO this Sunday night, April 24, at 9 p.m. ET.
