Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Reveals Pamela Anderson Is Coming Back To 'Baywatch'

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has brought some excellent news to fans of the Baywatch movie who are looking forward to seeing the flick because of the nostalgia involved in its filming. Dwayne Johnson took to his Instagram account to show that Pamela Anderson is joining the cast of the upcoming flick. For those who weren't viewers of the original Baywatch television program, Pamela Anderson was a star of the show and looks to be one of the only cast members who will appear in both the series and the film. Dwayne Johnson, of course, wasn't in the original cast but is headlining the big screen adaptation of Baywatch.

Johnson announced Pamela Anderson's addition to the program with the pic of the two generations of Baywatch cast members along with a caption that read, "She introduced the world to 'CJ Parker' and became one of the most iconic characters of a generation - for the most successful TV show of all time."

Dwayne Johnson ended the posting by saying Pamela Anderson was as "smoking as ever" and then managed to get a plug in for the arrival date of the Baywatch film.

Dwayne Johnson has been a member of the Baywatch cast basically since the project was officially announced. He's joined by Zac Efron and Priyanka Chopra, and now he's got one of the original Baywatch stars on board.

According to E! Online, Pamela Anderson was likely quite surprised when she got the call to join the cast. Anderson had told the website just a few weeks back she didn't see herself being a part of the Baywatch film. As a matter of fact, Pamela Anderson never really thought the Baywatch story would ever come to the silver screen.

"I'll believe it when I see it, but I wish them the best. I've heard this for 15 years."

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's addition to the cast of Baywatch certainly helped to get the movie made. The former professional wrestler-turned-actor has been a major draw for the last few years. Even when Dwayne Johnson appears in some movies that aren't considered anything close to critical hits, he still manages to get plenty of people into theaters. Pamela Anderson can certainly relate to that, as she used to be quite the draw herself, both on Baywatch and the few films she starred in. Johnson's career has certainly been quite a bit more successful than Anderson's, but the two of them teaming up should get Baywatch fans to come to the theater.

One detail that neither Dwayne Johnson nor Pamela Anderson spilled the beans on is who she will play. In the original Baywatch series, Anderson took on the part of CJ Parker. According to IMDb, that role has already been filled by Kelly Rohrbach. It seems likely Pamela is going to be taking on the role of a different Baywatch character. It's possible she's not going to have anywhere near the role she had in television series.

Along with Dwayne Johnson, the original CJ Parker, Zac Efron, Priyanka Chopra, and Kelly Rohrbach, the Baywatch movie stars Alexandra Daddario and Ilfenesh Hadera. Pamela Anderson isn't the only Baywatch veteran teaming up with Dwayne Johnson. Earlier in the year, it was confirmed that David Hasselhoff is going to be donning his lifeguard gear for the movie as well. Dwayne Johnson will be playing Mitch Buchanon, which was Hasselhoff's role in the Baywatch series. Dwayne Johnson and the rest of the Baywatch movie cast will be hitting theaters at the start of next summer, when it goes live on May 17, 2017.
