‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 6: Bran’s Power To Play Pivotal Role In Impending War With White Walkers

Since the first season of Game of Thrones, the Starks have been predicting Westeros’ grim fate. Game of Thrones fans know by heart that the “winter is coming” adage does not only pertain to a season, but to a horrifying occurrence — the war between the living and the White Walkers.

Nonetheless, it appears that one Stark will play an important role in combating the dreaded Walkers. Isaac Hempstead-Wright, who plays the role of Bran Stark, will return in Season 6. Viewers last saw Bran in the fourth season reaching the Three-Eyed Raven’s cave, where he’d begin his training to better use his powers.

Producers opted to give Isaac a break instead of viewers witnessing his training, something the actor labeled as “really, really dull.” In an interview with TV Guide, Isaac said that Bran’s not yet a pro, although his powers would certainly prove helpful in the future.

Bran’s mystical abilities include Warging, which allows him to project his mind into a person or animal. He’s exhibited this ability with his direwolf, as well as his faithful servant, Hodor. Bran also has the capability to witness significant events from Westeros’ past, present, and future. With the White Walkers fast approaching, it seems like Bran’s powers will greatly assist the living against the army of dead.

“I think we can all tell things are going to kick-off soon enough [with the White Walkers]. Bran’s power is one of the things that could be a real game-changer in one of those wars that are yet to come.”

While Bran will apparently make use of his powers soon, Isaac believes that his character might find it difficult at first to balance his priorities.

“He’s still got that teenage sense of just going, ‘Look, I don’t care about [the Others.] I’ve got this amazing power and I want to experience it all and enjoy it.’ And I think that will come back to bite him. It’s been made quite clear to Bran that his powers play a wider role in the scheme of things.”

Knowing the great responsibility that comes with his exceptional skills, Bran decided to cut himself off from his family and friends. It can be remembered that he asked Osha to take away Rickon when he embarked on a journey to meet the Three-Eyed Raven.

“That’s been his main coping strategy for all the death that’s been surrounding him. Bran had to almost remove himself from any kind of emotional attachment, because he’s got this power and this calling, which is going to require a huge amount of responsibility and it can’t be wavering with emotional instability.”

Despite this detachment, Isaac thinks that Bran won’t be isolated for too long. He believes that Game of Thrones Season 6’s storyline will finally connect to the show’s central story — something fans have yet to find out. In the final episode of Game of Thrones Season 5, Sansa also finds out that Theon did not kill her brothers, which might lead to a reunion.
