Just How Is ‘Arrow’ Dealing With the Loss Of [Spoiler]

Another character gone on Arrow, and this time it seems permanent. With new episodes of Arrow returning to screens next week, fans want to know how the characters are dealing. The synopsis for Episode 19 suggests that some are unwilling to believe the character is really gone.

Arrow fans have started to question whether Laurel Lance is really dead. A few hours after being hit with an arrow, she was killed, and it all seems like Diggle’s fault. He will certainly grieve the hardest, after believing that his returned-from-the-dead brother could be trusted. That decision to believe in his brother over his friends led to the death of the Black Canary.

Access Hollywood says that Diggle will certainly struggle. In fact, the whole of Team Arrow is facing post traumatic stress syndrome after Laurel’s death. Fans will get to see Diggle in a way that they have never seen him before. David Ramsey, who plays the character, has reminded fans of the Season 2 line from Lyla, about how Diggle sees the world in black and white and this is something he has to deal with. He needs to see the world with bits of gray, and that is easier said than done. It makes him fractured and willing to do things he would never have before.

The death of Laurel could lead to Felicity Smoak returning to Team Arrow, even if it is just to be the tech girl again. She left the team and broke up with Arrow because she couldn’t deal with it all. However, there may be some feelings of guilt for not being there when Laurel needed help – and a friend. So this could be the moment she decides that she can do one thing: return to the team.

That is not all good news for Olicity shippers. International Business Times reports that she will not necessarily decide she can get back with Oliver, so that could make it difficult to work around him.

Meanwhile, Captain Lance has to deal with the loss of his daughter, and he is unwilling to believe that she is gone. After all, characters have been believed to have been killed before and ended up coming back, so why couldn’t it happen now? Lance will turn to Nyssa in Arrow Season 4 Episode 19 to see if she can help in the way she has before.

There are also sightings of the Black Canary, which suggests that Laurel is not dead after all. If she is, then who is taking over her role? That will likely be something for Oliver to figure out in order to find out whether he can work with her or if he will have to stop her.

Arrow fans are outraged at the idea of Laurel being killed off. They want her back, and they are willing to boycott the episode until she returns. For many, they viewed her as having everything – as well as some flaws. She had the beauty, the brains, and the brawn, but she was still flawed deep down with her addiction problems.

Other fans have supported the idea of killing off the Black Canary, saying she had not been integrated properly. It was difficult, considering she started to fight for her own reasons back in Season 3 and was never actually invited into the group the way others were. She found out Oliver was the Arrow and expected to be able to join just from that knowledge.

Arrow returns with Episode 19 on Wednesday, April 27 at 8/7c on the CW. Fans will then get to find out just who this new Black Canary could be.
