Pippa Middleton: On Her Journey Through The Swiss Alps For Charity, Continues To Challenge Herself

Pippa Middleton is not slowing down one bit when it comes to grueling and physically demanding races for charity. The younger sister of Kate Middleton gave it her all as she climbed 33 km through the Swiss Alps for the purpose of challenging herself, but also to raise awareness for the United Kingdom’s National Skiers and Boarders Charity Disability Snowsport.

The race began on April 19 and over four days more than 5,000 experienced hikers and skiers climb along the Swiss-Italian border running from Zermatt to Verbier.

Always looking cheerful and “in the zone” while participating in long-distance races, Pippa gave the race her best shot with skis strapped to her back, while surrounded by masses of other climbers. Middleton’s team completed the course impressively in 14 hours, 53 minutes and 59 seconds.

E! shares about Pippa’s love for the extreme and lengthy races.

“This isn’t the first time that Pippa has competed in a sports event all in the name of charity, either. In fact, back in January of this year she took part in the legendary Inferno race in Switzerland and less than one month later she competed in the Birkebeiner Ski Race in Norway.”

Of course the Middletons are known for their impeccable taste for fashion and even while working up a sweat on the mountains, Pippa was sure to keep things stylish. The Daily Mail shares about the fitness-lover’s style selections for the big race.

“The author and columnist, 32, opted for traditional ski garb in a winter jacket and checked lumberjack style shirt. She accessorised her outfit with a pair of mirrored sunglasses which she lifted to reveal subtle make-up and perfectly shaped brows.”

This makes Pippa’s third trip to Switzerland this year alone after having vacationed there in January and again later on in March. The beauty is a regular skier and frequents slopes around Europe while the season lasts. Middleton both races and skis for leisure. Her last trip vacationing in Switzerland she was joined by her boyfriend, James Matthews. The pair also raced cross country for charity ensuring to put on an affectionate show at the starting line.

Daily Mail gives details about the additional demanding race that Pippa completed alongside Matthews.

“The gruelling event tested not only the author’s skiing skills, but also her strength and stamina, as the rules of the Birkebeinerrennet race dictate that each of the 16,500 competitors must carry a 3.5kg rucksack. The event originated in honour of the 1206 rescue of 18-month-old Prince Haakon Haakonsson — who was carried across the mountains to safety in Trondheim as an infant before he grew up to become king and unite Norway after 1000 years of civil war.”

The 32-year-old is an advocate of healthy lifestyle and often shares her advice to inspire others. The publication reminds of Middleton’s attitude toward fitness and health.

“Exercise is a massive part of my life and a very personal thing for me; it’s so important for both the mind and body.'”

If various ski races and mountain climbs aren’t impressive enough, Pippa doesn’t stop there. She also has joined in on numerous triathlons. She cycled 54 miles between London and Brighton in support of the British Heart Foundation, for which she is an ambassador. When the Duchess’ sister is not off at a long-distance race she can reportedly be spotted running through Central London, hitting the gym, or cycling near her parents’ home in Berkshire and the countryside.

Pippa has relayed that although she loves keeping active and fit, she doesn’t let gym visits or fad diets rule her life. The beauty is of the belief that a healthy balance is the key.
