Clayton Police mentioned that the department received an email with additional information regarding the university shooting. Allegedly, this was a situation involving road rage. The email indicated that the victim — a confirmed employee of Café Bon Appétit — was the target.

Shots were fired at the victim’s car after the shooter made a U-turn on Forsyth and drove onto Skinker Boulevard in pursuit of the woman. Accordingly, law enforcement officials have not shared the number of shots fired.

While the shooting incident did occur near the university, St. Louis Post-Dispatch notes that it didn’t necessary have anything to do with the school. However, the investigation is still ongoing.

Likewise, Vice Chancellor Jill Friedman stated that no Washington University students were involved in the incident, as mentions Fox News. In additional, she mentioned that all questions should be directed at police in the St. Louis suburb of Clayton.
