Michael Fassbender And Alicia Vikander Relationship Frayed By Work?

Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander had the potential of becoming the heavyweight power couple in Hollywood when they were both nominated for Best Actor at this year’s Oscars. But it looks like the couple is having a hard time maintaining their bonds as they chase their prospective careers.

While Michael Fassbender has been endlessly busy working on movies like Assassin’s Creed, Weightless, and The Snowman, his girlfriend Alicia Vikander has not been able to make time either due to her commitments in making new films.

“Wim Wenders started principal photography Tuesday in Berlin on romantic thriller Submergence, which stars James McAvoy and Alicia Vikander,” reports Variety. “Filming will take place in France, Germany, Spain and Africa, before wrapping in July.”

Submergence follows “the story of James More (McAvoy), a water engineer who is taken hostage in Somalia by Jihadist fighters who suspect that he is a British spy,” according to Variety. “Danielle “Danny” Flinders (Vikander) is a biomathematician working on a deep sea-diving project to support her theory of the origin of life on the planet.”

Although the Irish-German actor was not at CinemaCon this year to promote Assassin’s Creed, it looks like he certainly was not with Alicia in Berlin.

Like the workaholic that he is, the 39-year-old actor couldn’t resist but to send in a little clip to get his fans riled up on his upcoming film.

“Michael Fassbender couldn’t attend CinemaCon on Thursday, but sent an excellent substitute: footage from his widely anticipated action movie Assassin’s Creed,” reports USA Today. “The actor also sent a video message to the convention of theater owners, vowing to “unleash” the film based on the popular video game in December. Fassbender, who is also a producer on the film, promised a “compelling story, rich characters and breathtaking action sequences.”

Michael and Alicia met on the set of The Light Between the Oceans and continued their romance even after their time in Australia. They have been caught on dates and walking on the streets together since then, but they did not make their relationship official until the Oscars this year.

“While Fassbender did not feature in The Danish Girl actress’ speech, or in the thank you scroll that ran along the bottom of the screen during the broadcast, he did get an appreciative kiss as she left her seat,” according to 9News.

There has been talks that both of the actors are way too busy to sustain a relationship, especially one that spans across continents. But the fact that Alicia’s father is aware of them dating may mean that this is something much more official than the fans are led on to believe.

“But while neither Alicia Vikander or Michael Fassbender have verbally affirmed their relationship, it appears her father Svante Vikander has done the job for them after referring to the Shame actor as ‘Alicia’s boyfriend’ during a recent interview with a Swedish publication,” reports Daily Mail.

Their relationship does come at a time that is highly inconvenient for both of them. They are getting roles right and left, and especially for Alicia, the fact that she just won her first Oscar means that she needs to use the momentum to heighten her career even more.

Michael Fassbender is also at his prime, now gunning for the coveted role of James Bond.

“The Kerry native made the list of actor’s most likely to take over the role from Daniel Craig who is said to be saying goodbye to the role,” reports the Irish Examiner. “Michael was previously 20/1 to be the next 007 but the actor’s odds have now been slashed to 12/1. Unfortunately, the X-Men star still faces stiff competition from hot favourites Tom Hiddleston at 2/1 and Tom Hardy at 5/2.”

But it does look like they made time for each other to celebrate his 39th birthday in New York. Check out their cute picture below!
