Justin Bieber Jersey: Atlanta Hawks Lucky Charm For Game 2 Of Their Opening-Round Series?

As the Atlanta Hawks engage the Boston Celtics tonight in Game 2 of their opening-round series, the Hawks are counting on the lucky charm of no less than a Justin Bieber jersey custom-made for the occasion. The Hawks showed off their Justin Bieber charm today on Twitter, reports NESN.

While this move certainly transforms the Hawks into “Beliebers,” some fans believe that the strategy might backfire.

“The Hawks have opened themselves up to the latest victims of the Curse of Bieber. Bieber has no shortage of sports connections, and there’s this theory out there that associating your franchise with the pop star usually ends in peril on the court, field or ice. Whether that happens for the Hawks remains to be seen.”

It’s not the first time the Hawks have passed off Bieber as a fan of the team. The team first did this on January 24, 2013. Unfortunately, Justin is also closely associated with 15 other teams, according to NESN. These are Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets, Houston Rockets, Washington Wizards, Orlando Magic, San Antonio Spurs, Memphis Grizzlies, Toronto Raptors, Chicago Bulls, Oklahoma City Thunder, Charlotte Hornets, and Los Angeles Clippers.

Too many times the charm? Nevertheless, the Hawks are keeping their fingers crossed as their second playoff encounter with the Celtics unfolds tonight. Maybe it’s better if the team has The Biebs sing the national anthem instead.

There are indicators that the Bieber risk is worth taking, no matter how ugly some quarters seem to think the special Jersey is. According to International Business Times, “Justin Bieber’s Twitter endorsement of Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry was one of the instrumental factors in pushing the talented guard into the final lineup for the Eastern Conference’s All-Star starters. ”

Better late than never, IBT recalled how Bieber nullified 30,000 votes by forgetting to include the #nbaballot in his Tweet. “Despite this, the endorsement still helped propel Lowry into the East’s starters.”

The pop star reportedly indicated “that the stocky guard has led the team to an impressive start and deserves to represent the team in the annual showcase of the league’s best players.” Given Bieber’s track record, the Hawks move just might be the opposite of the so-called kiss of death.

By the way, Bieber’s $12 million endorsement of OPI Nail Polish is considered as one of the 10 highest paid celebrity endorsement deals, according to The Richest. On a more personal level, Justin’s backing of Carly Rae Jepsen has led to the phenomenal success of the “Call Me Maybe” star.

So perhaps The Hawks have a sound basis for judgment when they decided to honor Bieber with the personalized jersey. They just might be on to something.

Money attests that Justin’s net worth should be around $200 million, based on an annual income that hovers between the $60-$80 million mark. He started working as a musician when he was 13-years-old. Selena Gomez, Bieber’s on-again, off-again girlfriend, has a net worth of only about $45 million, according to Earn The Necklace. This, despite Gomez’s earlier start in the business, pegged at only 10 years of age.

If, indeed, the Hawks win the game tonight, it will be another feather in Justin’s hat. If not, there is always the excuse that the artist is too spread out after being seen as supporting 15 other basketball teams in the past. This is based on the various hats and jerseys that Bieber has been seen as wearing as he went to watch the games on many different occasions.

Justin not only loves basketball. At one time or another, he has shown himself as a capable basketball player with his quick and smart moves. If he weren’t discovered on YouTube, his career could have taken a different path, except for the fact that he is not tall. He stands 5? 7?. While he lacks in height, Justin Bieber packs a punch in music.
