‘Sons Of Anarchy’ Cast Reunion Fuels Talks Of A Prequel: Will Charlie Hunnam Reprise His Role As Jax Teller?

Sons of Anarchy fans, this might be some very good news for you.

According to recent reports, the cult FX show about an outlaw motorcycle club and its members could return for a prequel sooner than expected, and rumors suggest that Charlie Hunnam could be roped in to play Jax Teller once again.

According to Movie Pilot, the entire cast of Sons of Anarchy — including Charlie Hunnam — have confirmed their participation at the Space City Comic Con which is to be held in Houston, Texas, in May this year. Even the creator of the show, Kurt Sutter, is expected to be present at the full-fledged reunion.

Details of the upcoming series, which could be an origin-story tracing back the history of the club, are expected to be announced at the event.

While it is not unusual for cast members of a show to reunite for a special occasion or a promotional event, it is very rare for an entire cast to reunite along with the creator and the producer of the show. Considering the busy schedules of actors, directors and writers, one does not expect entire crews to turn up for an event, and this is what has fueled speculations that fans of Sons of Anarchy might be in for some kind of a special treat this coming May.

Moreover, the abiding popularity of Sons of Anarchy means that both fans of the show, as well as its creators, are constantly on a lookout for opportunities to revive the show.

Speaking to Zap2it, FX President and General Manager John Landgraf recently confirmed that the cancellation of The Bastard Executioner after a troublesome first season has meant that Kurt Sutter wants to go back to working on a prequel of Sons of Anarchy, a show which is known to be closer to his heart.

“I don’t have anything concrete except to say Kurt said he’s working on them and they’ll be coming to me soon. He says that he just can’t not write and that he’s been writing and working on an idea for a show. He’s also re-expressed interest in getting back into another show that exists in the Sons of Anarchy franchise.”

Kurt Sutter is expected to divulge his plans during the Space City Comic Con, and rumor mill has it that he and his wife, Katey Sagal, have been busy scouting locations for the upcoming prequel. Deadline reports that the couple might announce their plans for a prequel during the ATX Television Festival on June 9 – 12, where both of them are expected to have an in-depth discussion about their careers and upcoming projects.

Meanwhile, Sutter also confirmed that Charlie Hunnam will be his first choice to play Jax Teller if the show returns to television. According to Movie News Guide,he recently conceded that “he can’t wait [to] have an opportunity to work together again” with Hunnam, a comment taken by many as a sign that a prequel might already be in the works.

Fans of the show will be thrilled if the rumors surrounding the announcement of Sons of Anarchy’s prequel turn out to be true. Ever since the show ended in December 2014, legions of fans have been waiting to hear more news about a Sons of Anarchy prequel, or even a spin-off, and now it looks increasingly likely that it is going to come to fruition.
