‘NCIS’ Episode 21 Sets Up Events For Season 13 Finale

The events for the NCIS Season 13 finale will be set up in this week’s episode. Episode 21, titled Return to Sender, introduces the British spy the team will need to catch with the FBI and MI-6.

NCIS fans already know that the Season 13 finale will be Michael Weatherly’s last episode. The Inquisitr shared last week that the episode will be titled Family First, and Weatherly’s character, Special Agent Tony DiNozzo, will choose to put his family first. What does that mean? Fans are now desperate to know, but it seems to suggest that he will walk away rather than being killed off.

The season finale will also feature the manhunt for a British spy who is killing current and former agents. That puts the whole team at risk, and the story will start this week. According to Heavy, Gibbs and his team will work with FBI’s Fornell again, after two British prisoners escape prison and get to the U.S. in a shipping container. One of the prisoners is the former spy mentioned for the season finale storyline.

The NCIS team will be called to a laser tag arena, where two bodies have been found. They are the owner and janitor, and both have been killed execution style, hinting that this is more than just a random killing. In a search of the premises, DiNozzo finds a secret room, and it brings much more to light about the two victims.

More about DiNozzo will be shared in this week’s episode, including how he affords his apartment. Tim McGee is looking for a new apartment with Delilah, only to find out that the cost is far too high. Emily Bishop confirms that she downsized and still has to pay more than she used to. DiNozzo has an amazing apartment, and they want to know how he managed to get it.

After initially trying to get around the subject, he slips up and tells them that he owns it; and he has done so since he was a probie. Considering McGee and Delilah don’t have the money together, it has raised the question how Dinohzzo could have raised it. Could his father have lent him or bought him the apartment? Maybe he does have a rich cougar living somewhere, helping him afford the high life. Is it possible that he got a very special rate as a very special agent?

Over the next few episodes, DiNozzo’s departure from NCIS inches ever closer. The writers want to get people ready for new characters, and two actors will be introduced over the next few episodes, with the possibility of them being taken on for Season 14. NCIS has already been renewed for Seasons 14 and 15. Pauley Perrette, who plays Abby, has also said there are many more years to come.

Sarah Clarke, whom 24 fans will know well, has been cast as FBI agent Tess Monroe. She will be joined by Duane Henry, who will take on the role of Clayton Reeves, an MI-6 officer. Both actors will appear in the last two episodes of the season, as the team work closely with the two counterparts to track down and capture the British spy.

This will certainly give NCIS fans a chance to get to know the characters and form some sort of bond with them. The writers did this with Cote de Pablo, shortly before Sasha Alexander left at the end of Season 2. It helped warm the viewers for Pablo’s return and integration as a full cast member, and fans were certainly upset when she chose to leave the show a couple of years ago.

NCIS Season 13 will continue with Episode 21, “Return to Sender,” on Tuesday at 8pm on CBS.
