Is There New ‘The Originals’ This Week? When Will It Return? [Spoilers]

The Originals takes a week-long break this week, despite parent show The Vampire Diaries airing as normal. When will the show return, and what will Klaus do about Cami?

This week saw the Mikaelsons face against Lucien, who is now an upgrade of an original. He certainly showed off his abilities the week before by killing Finn and now wants Aurora in on the deal. It is no secret that he has harbored feelings for the red-haired vamp, but does she return them? Not at all, and now Lucien knows, thanks to a well-placed camera and Klaus’ taunting.

It all looked like the Mikaelsons were going to win and Cami was safe with a lease in her neighbor’s name, until right at the last second. Lucien is one smart vampire and knew she would compel a neighbor to help her protect herself, and Lucien killed the one she knew it would be. After being able to enter, he bit her; The Originals fans already know that the bite is lethal, even to an original vampire. Klaus’ blood will not cure Cami, so what is she to do?

Executive Producer Michael Narducci has already confirmed there would be three deaths in between The Originals Season 3 Episode 18 and the Season 3 finale. So far, Finn has gone, and that leaves two more. Many fans have wondered whether Cami’s role will come to an end, and it certainly hints towards that idea unless Klaus can find a way to save the woman he loves.

New episodes of The Originals returns on Friday, April 29, 2016. Carter Matt doesn’t know why The Originals is not airing next week, and it does seem strange considering The Vampire Diaries is continuing as normal. It looks like the reason is to extend The Originals to air until May 20. Its parent show is due to air its Season 7 finale on May 13, and that would mean ending on Episode 22, as expected. With the week-long break for The Originals, the show will run up to Episode 22, airing on May 20 as planned. According to Twitter, the decision was to air a second viewing of the premiere of Containment in The Originals’ time slot.

Fans will have to wait two weeks to see if Cami can be saved. By the looks of the trailer, Klaus will do anything to save her, and Hayley wants to keep her friend safe. The episode synopsis states that Hayley and Elijah will take a trip to the Bayou to get some answers and hopefully find a cure. Unfortunately, nobody seems to have the knowledge and certainly not the time to engineer a cure in the way Lucien did.

Marcel and Vincent will also look for other ways to save Cami, while Davina has another problem to deal with: Kol. Friday saw Kol leave New Orleans to get away from the ancestors, who are making his bloodlust worse. However, he soon found that crossing the state line meant that he would start decaying. Lucien lets Davina know something that will change her relationship with Kol forever, but what could that be?

Episode 19 is called No More Heartbreaks, which would suggest that Cami can be saved. It could also mean Klaus loses the woman he loves and decides to close off his heart – and maybe turn off his humanity – to deal with the loss of Cami. The title could also hint at Davina, who has to make the decision to kill Kol to put him out of his misery because there is nothing else she can do, and she decides never to love again to avoid any more heartbreak. As Nathaniel Buzolic is still a guest star, it would certainly suggest that he will have to die, and he could finish the prophecy, as a Mikaelson still needs to die by friend.

The Originals will return with a new episode on April 29, 2016.
