Taylor Swift Reveals ‘Red’ Album Name, Announces Release Date

Country and pop superstar Taylor Swift will release her new album on October 22 and she has titled it Red. Swift made the announcement on Monday, August 13 during a YouTube webcast for her fans.

In a statement for the new album which has been two years in the works Taylor said:

“For the last two years, I’ve been working on an album called Red. I called it Red because of the tumultuous, crazy adventures in love and loss that it chronicles. In my mind, when you experience love that’s fast paced and out of control and mixes infatuation, jealousy, frustration, miscommunication, and all of those lovely emotions…in retrospect, it all looks red.”

The new LP features 16 new tracks including the lead single “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together. Swift also shares a track with British artist Ed Sheeran. The albums first track will go on sale via iTunes at midnight. Swift said the song is dedicated to “my lovely ex-boyfriend” however which boyfriend that might is not known. I’m willing to bet the song given its title is about John Mayer.

Red is the first album for Swift since her hugely successful 2010 LP Speak Now.

Taylor Swift will follow the October 22 release of Red with a “massive concert tour” that will take her all over the world. Over the last two years Swift’s Speak Now World Tour has played to sold out crowds. Taylor was forced to extend her touring schedule in order to meet the demand of her fans all over the planet.
