‘Fifty Shades Darker’ Leaked Photos Prove The Movie Will Deviate From The Books

Production for Fifty Shades Darker is currently underway, and some on-set images of Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) and Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) have already leaked online. Although many fans already know what to expect in the coming sequel, the new images suggest that the movie will deviate from the books. What has changed?

According to International Business Times, Christian and Ana get engaged in the second book. Their marriage happens in between books two and three, with the latter picking up during their honeymoon. However, a few photos of Dornan and Johnson recently leaked on Twitter, and it appears as though their engagement progresses faster in the movie.

The images show Dornan and Johnson together during a scene and both are wearing wedding rings. In the photos, Dornan is seen wearing a casual blue button up shirt while Johnson matches his look with a simple black coat and white undershirt.

Although nothing official has been confirmed, the photos suggest that Christian and Ana get married in Fifty Shades Darker. This is only a slight deviation from the books, but it might indicate that more changes are ahead in the Fifty Shades of Grey adaptation. Unfortunately, it is not known when the scene falls in the movie’s timeline, and it could very well be one of the final shots in the film.

While fans will have to wait to learn more about future changes, at least the recent images show that Dornan and Johnson are getting along just fine on set. Previous reports had indicated that the two were having troubles with chemistry, but the new photos show that both stars are having a great time together.

In fact, the pair appeared more than comfortable with each other in the photos. This includes the two holding hands, smiling, and joking with each other while the crew prepared for the shot. By all outward appearances, the two looked like an ordinary couple in the scene.

According to Fashion & Style, Dornan recently addressed the rumors of chemistry problems. While speculation grew that filming had been delayed because of a lack of chemistry between the leads, Dornan explained that nothing could have been further from the truth.

“They wouldn’t have shot the film with us if there was a lackluster chemistry problem… whatever chemistry means… You have to jump through a lot of hoops to get a part like this, and they simply wouldn’t have cast us.”

Of course, the wedding ring images clearly debunk the theory of chemistry problems. This is a good sign for fans, especially considering how the first film was criticized heavily and even managed to win a few Razzie Awards. Hopefully, Dornan and Johnson’s chemistry will improve this time around, along with the storyline.

Meanwhile, the idea that Fifty Shades Darker is deviating from the book could also be an attempt to shake things up and separate the sequel from the first film. Considering all the negative reaction to Fifty Shades of Grey, director James Foley might be progressing the storyline along in order to add a little more mystery for those fans who have already read the books.

In addition to the on-set photos and changes in storyline, author E.L. James has been uploading a number of behind-the-scenes images on Instagram. The photos include shots of the crew in action, which also indicates that things are running smoothly for the Fifty Shades of Grey sequel. Barring any future delays, fans can expect the movie to remain on schedule and premiere just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Fifty Shades Darker is set to open on February 10, 2017.
