NFL Rumors: Philadelphia Eagles Drafting Carson Wentz

NFL rumors are swirling around Carson Wentz. He’s one of the top two quarterbacks coming out of the college ranks. There’s a chance that he might be the first player chosen when the National Football League does their annual draft at the end of April. The Los Angeles Rams changed everything up recently when they traded into the top spot. According to CBS Sports, the Philadelphia Eagles might move up so that they can draft Wentz.

The Los Angeles Rams are now choosing first in the NFL Draft. They obviously need a new quarterback. That was their biggest weakness last season. Their two best choices are California Bears star Jared Goff and North Dakota State Bison star Carson Wentz. They have a couple of days left to figure out which guy will be tasked with saving their franchise. There are conflicting reports about which way the Rams are leaning, but many feel that Goff will be the first overall choice.

Since they have such an abysmal track record with quarterbacks, the belief is that the Cleveland Browns are going to choose one with the second overall selection in the NFL Draft. The team finally gave up on Johnny Manziel after he’s given them a million reasons to do so. Robert Griffin III was signed as a reclamation project. Browns head coach Hue Jackson might not be comfortable with relying solely on Griffin III.

Aside from quarterback, the Cleveland Browns have several other holes to fill on their roster. Management might be convinced to trade away the second overall selection in the NFL if it means that they can add a couple of more players that can produce immediately. If the Philadelphia Eagles throw a great offer on the table that can help the Browns secure more than one starter, then Cleveland has to be inclined to listen.

A big reason why the Philadelphia Eagles might be inclined to give away several assets in the NFL Draft is because they have been concerned about their quarterback position. Sam Bradford has yet to prove that he’s the solution, even with the big contract signed not too long ago. Eagles head coach Doug Pederson shelled out some money to bring Chase Daniels with him from the Kansas City Chiefs, but he’s not a long term solution, either.

Carson Wentz might be a long term solution at quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. He didn’t play against the top talents in the NCAA because he attended a small school. However, his skills are evident to scouts and coaches in the NFL. Teams feel that they can mold him into a quality player in the National Football League. Doug Pederson is a former professional quarterback himself, so he might feel that he can tutor Wentz into being a starter in the league.

The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to make a big impact in the NFL Draft. They’ve been linked to some big names. Some even have them maneuvering their way to acquiring Ohio State Buckeyes running back Ezekiel Elliott. He would replace Ryan Mathews and DeMarco Murray as the feature back. It comes as no surprise that the Eagles would be interested in getting Carson Wentz, as that would generate quite a bit of headlines.

Very few things in sports are as exciting as the NFL Draft. It is the time of year where football fans get a renewed sense of enthusiasm and faith because their team has a chance at acquiring potentially game changing players. After what happened last year, Philadelphia Eagles fans are hoping that management can turn around the franchise. Carson Wentz might be able to make that happen.
