Is Taylor Swift’s Edgy New Look Part Of Her Plan To Be More ‘Spontaneous’?

Taylor Swift has already had quite the weekend. The country-turned-pop singer debuted her new bleached blonde bob on Instagram, ahead of Coachella.

On Friday, April 15, Swift posted a hip photo of herself wearing a black jacket with embroidery on the back along with the caption: “BLEACHELLA.”

The “Out of the Woods” singer has since showed off her edgy new look at Indio, California. Taylor took to Instagram to post several snapshots of herself with her friends Jack Antonoff, Lorde, and Martha Hunt. Taylor looks unrecognizable since she’s wearing a sexy black romper in photo and a grungy olive green jacket in another photo instead of her usual crop top and skater skirt outfits.

According to E! Online, the singer then flew down to San Antonio, Texas, to attend a friend’s wedding. In photos obtained by the celebrity gossip site, backup singer Eliotte Nicole tweeted about her special day.

Taylor once again looked unrecognizable as she was photographed chatting with the guests. She attended the wedding with her mom Andrea Swift around 5 p.m. local time, according to E! Online. After celebrating her close friend’s big day, Swift ventured back to Coachella later that evening when concertgoers spotted the platinum blonde singer dance to Grimes’ set.

The singer looked completely different from her usual pristine self. Tay Tay was spotted with an edgy punk rock look that consisted of an oversized gray T-Shirt and a short black skirt. Taylor paired her look with a spiked star choker, bright blue nails, dirty gold Converse sneakers, and red lipstick.

She was seen holding hands with her friend Kennedy Raye while walking through the event. Also there was Taylor Swift’s best friend and model Karlie Kloss who was seen getting her hair braided at the Batiste Dry Shampoo braid bar.

When the Guns N’ Roses show ended, Swift made her way over to the Neon Carnival, which is a giant after party that takes place at the Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport. It’s usually the place where most celebs go to chill out and wind down, but Swift’s wild night was just beginning. There’s a reason why Swift looks unrecognizable lately, too.

Apparently, her new look is just for Coachella. Sources told Hollywood Life that Taylor wanted to “go incognita” at the festival and have a good time with her friends without looking like her usual pop star self. Taylor is also there to support her boyfriend Calvin Harris as he takes the stage on Sunday night.

“Taylor is super excited that she can support Calvin this weekend and give him her undivided attention at Coachella. She’s so proud of him and is looking forward to watching him to perform, and to dancing to his music. She’s also happy that the tables are turned for this event and that all eyes will be on Calvin rather than solely on her.”

Taylor Swift first debuted her new bleached blonde look on the cover of Vogue’s May 2016 issue. She is proud of her new look, writing on Instagram: “This is my favorite cover I’ve ever gotten to be a part of.”

Harris a huge fan of her look as well. The DJ believes that Swift looks super hot with the edgy new hairstyle.

“Calvin absolutely loves Taylor’s new platinum hair. He thinks it’s a super sexy look and accentuates her natural beauty. He already has the Vogue cover of her framed and hanging on his bedroom wall.”

Swift’s new look could be all part of her plan to be more spontaneous as she takes a break from her music career. Back in December, the songstress revealed that she wants to make impulsive decisions as she lets her story “write itself” for a change.

“What I’m looking forward to in 2016 is not knowing what’s next. I’ve always planned my career a year or two in advance, and I refused to do that this time. 1989 was such a huge chapter in my life and career, and it’s an exciting thought to let the story write itself now for a while.”

Taylor’s not going to start relying on shock tactics to sell music. But she’s not going to start chain-smoking and flashing skin like her pop contemporaries, either. Taylor told NME Magazine that just because she’s a role model doesn’t mean she’s a perfectionist either.

“It’s not about trying to be perfect. Not to try and sound like the good witch in The Wizard Of Oz or something, but I really do want to do good things with what I have, and that’s it. I don’t think my brain could cook up very shocking things for the sake of being shocking.”
