iPhone 5 Rumors: AT&T Release Date And Possible LTE Connectivity

iPhone 5 rumors are in full swing with the anticipated release date less than a month away, according to reports. A September iPhone launch was confirmed by a “trusted AT&T source” and a picture that reportedly shows the new iPhone model’s motherboard suggests that the new smartphone will come with LTE capabilities.

While original reports have said that Apple’s reveal date for the latest iPhone model will be September 12, it looks like AT&T’s reported release date for the highly anticipated phone coincides with the expected release on September 21, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Unlike other reports, this latest one comes from BGR, who gives more information on its source than the usual “someone with knowledge” information that sites usually give, although the tech website has not made it clear if their source is knowledgeable about AT&T or if the person works inside AT&T.

The report does note that the company is planning on keeping “an all-hands-on-deck policy in place for employees that will extend through to the middle of October.” WebProNews notes that, while we are still a few weeks away from the anticipated iPhone 5 announcement, a post on WeiPhone, a Chinese forum, shows pictures of what could be the iPhone 5’s motherboard.

This is an important leak, if it is really the motherboard, because it shows things like a smaller SIM card and a five pin battery connector, up from four pins on the iPhone 4S. The photo also shows more antenna connections than previous Apple smartphones, indicating that the new iPhone could have an LTE connection.
