Pamela Anderson’s Standup Comedy Career Begins With Sex Tape Jabs

Pamela Anderson recently decided to take on a massive career shift and try her hand at standup comedy rather than her traditional dramatic acting roles. Since then, she has gotten very edgy with her material, delving into content such as her infamous sex tape with former Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee.

Anderson has become an American pop culture icon of sex, sun, and skimpy bikinis. This is thanks, in large part, to her career tone-setting five-year stint as the sex symbol lifeguard C.J. Parker on Baywatch. Anderson’s beach bimbo persona was only strengthened by the nautically-set sex tape she took part in on her honeymoon, and which leaked in 1995, and Pamela’s extremely prolific career as a Playboy centerfold.

Pamela has wanted to get away from her stringent reputation as a “Baywatch girl” for a very long time now, a fact that is evidenced by her decision to turn down a part in the upcoming movie reboot of Baywatch, which will star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Alexandra Daddario, and Priyanka Chopra instead.

So rather than continue down her career path as an actress, Anderson, now mother of two sons, is doing something completely different than what she did on the action-drama Baywatch. That is, she is doing her best to get off the ground as a standup comedian, as Page Six was first to report.

“I’ve always wanted to try standup because I was inspired by all the great female comedians we’ve had,” Pamela told her audience in her act, which she performed on Thursday night as host of “Gotham Comedy Live” in New York.

“There’s Joan Rivers, Phyllis Diller, Andy Dick,” Anderson continued, with the last of the three names she mentioned being a joke meant to poke fun at the male comedian Dick.

But Anderson did not limit her routine to taking playful jabs at retired comics; she covered more personal and risque topics, such as the sex tape that helped create the image of Pamela Anderson we know today and relating it to the much more current sex tape trial involving Hulk Hogan.

“Did you see that Hulk Hogan got $115 million for his sex tape?” Anderson asked in her routine.

“That pissed me off! All I got were some stupid Mötley Crüe tickets!”

Pamela Anderson continued to use her standup comedy as an opportunity to poke fun at her past escapades by disparaging her own role on Baywatch.

“Let’s face it, the only way I’m getting an Oscar from Baywatch is if I find one in the sand with a metal detector.”

Adding to the sexy, edgy nature of Anderson’s routine was the fact that she took every opportunity to play up her well-known sex symbol status. Page Six points out, for example, that Pamela wore a very tight and low-cut black dress.

But although Anderson was not afraid to get very racy in her performance, Pamela let it be known before she even went on that she would not even touch upon her friends and family members in a negative light.

“Pam vetoed joking about [ex-husband] Kid Rock or talking about Madonna’s recent meltdown,” a Pamela Anderson insider reported.

Seeing as how standup already thrives on provocative ideas and bawdy imagery, it certainly makes sense that someone with the legendary playgirl status that Anderson has acquired could succeed in the industry.
