Taylor Swift Bleaches Hair For Coachella: Will She Run Into Katy Perry?

Some have been wondering if Taylor Swift’s bleached blonde hair on her cover of Vogue magazine is for real — and it appears to be.

The singer-songwriter is officially a bleached blonde for Coachella. The 26-year-old took to Instagram to post a stylish photo that’s giving fans serious Debbie Harry vibes. Swift shared this cool and sophisticated photo of herself wearing a black embroidered jacket, black Ray Ban sunglasses, and her signature red lipstick.

“Bleachella,” she coyly captioned the pic to her adoring 73.5 million followers.

Fans are still in a state of shock over Taylor Swift’s makeover for the latest issue of Vogue. The cover girl is barely recognizable as she rocks shaggy platinum blonde hair and a slinky silver dress with maroon ankle boots. When revealing the cover of Vogue’s May, 2016, issue on Thursday, April 14, Anna Wintour wrote, “I’m thrilled that it’s Taylor Swift, who’s my co-chair this year at the Met Gala …And we very much wanted to give Taylor a new look, make her into sort of a rock n’ roll chick.”

Even the singer doesn’t mind changing up her look. She wrote in her Instagram post: “This is my favorite cover I’ve ever gotten to be a part of. Thank you @voguemagazine and @mertalas!”

This isn’t the first time that Swift has changed up her hair. Back in February, 2014, she decided to take the plunge and get her hair cut for the first time ever. Swift posted a video to Instagram with the caption: “Haircut.” In the video, she’s heard saying, “We don’t do anything without an audience, do we?”

Following her dramatic haircut, the singer followed up with a Polaroid-style photo of herself and fellow pop star Ellie Goulding with the caption: “London, I could never thank you enough. See you next time! PS: short hair, don’t care (!!!)”

A year later, in February, 2015, Taylor explained why the decision to cut her hair seemed spontaneous to her.

“I actually cut my hair here [in London], in the O2 arena backstage. All my friends watched, including Ellie Goulding. I was planning it for six months. I was like, I’m doing it. I’m cutting my hair. I’m changing my hair for the first time ever.”

Sources close to the singer told Hollywood Life that the real reason why Swift wanted to cut her hair is because she wore extensions to make her appear longer. Unfortunately, the extensions pulled and damaged her natural hair, which is why she hasn’t turned back. Instead, Swift has been cutting her hair shorter and shorter since then.

“Taylor had hair extensions to make her hair thicker but the extensions were starting to damage her hair. She was tired of stressing about it, so she chopped it — that way she doesn’t need the extensions anymore, it’s thick and healthy all on its own.”

Since Swift is now Coachella ready, does that mean she’s going to have to face Katy Perry in person? Both pop stars are attending the desert music festival this weekend with their boyfriends, Calvin Harris and Orlando Bloom. An insider told the Hollywood Life that a showdown won’t happen between Swift and Perry since they’re arriving on different days.

“Katy and Orlando want to go to Coachella and see Guns N’ Roses and that is looking to be their next big outing and date. And since the GNR show is another day from Calvin Harris there is no chance for a weird Taylor Swift encounter. So it is a win-win situation.”

There’s no word on whether or not the archenemies have set aside their differences. Perry revealed to the New York Times that she extended an invite to Swift at her pre-Oscars party, but the singer was a no-show.
